Despite several trips to Paris we’d never stayed in this property before and loved it, here’s our experience at the Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero.

Location
Just half a block away from Place Trocadero, the Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero is an Eiffel Tower dream from a global chain hotel with a boutique feel. Place Trocadero, on the west side of the Right Bank, gives a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower and is walkable to area restaurants both locally focused and more touristy locations. The Arc de Triomphe is a short drive away.

Property
The hotel has a boutique feel from the exterior. When we checked in after 6 pm, we had a limited amount of time in Paris and wanted to get out as soon as possible. We had intended to stay for just one night on this surprise stay before heading home from Europe. As such, we missed out on the opportunity to visit the fitness center and we the newly reopened rooftop bar was set to open up the following night; we received a preview before its reopening with bubbles that allow guests to have an inside dining experience without the chilly night air effects during the winter months.
Some suites facing the courtyard feature an outdoor space with chairs and lanterns. The Eiffel tower is visible from the rooftop space, and the hotel utilizes the space to grow herbs like Rosemary and Mint.
Hilton Honors Benefits
As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, my family received an upgrade to a junior suite, though it was simply a larger room and not a separate bedroom from the living space. The room had a balcony view that was not to be missed.
Canopy, as a brand, prioritizes sustainability. As such, they do not include bottles of water in the rooms but rather an empty glass jar which can be filled in the lobby with purified water.
Breakfast is in the lobby bar and restaurant with both buffet and menu items. Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond elite members have a full breakfast benefit outside the United States for up to (4) registered guests per room.
Though it was beyond the hotel’s obligation, they allowed us to pick some items from the buffet but also order from the menu. That was very generous and appreciated as some items on the buffet tempted us and others not as much.
In addition to hot buffet items, a selection of fresh baked breads, cereal packets, and a variety of juices, teas, coffee, and “detox” water were available.
Unavailable on the buffet were pancakes and french toast. We ordered one of each so our daughter could try both, plus the “Chef’s Egg.” One of the more unique egg dishes we’ve had, the salmon was mixed in with the poached egg, dill and herb cream on the side. The french toast was also very, very impressive. We recommend both.
Suite
Our room was slightly larger than others on our floor but the only difference was the shower and bath which would have eaten into some of the space of the room. The Canopy brand does a nice job of using space smartly. A good example of that is the abbreviated desk, suffient for a laptop but not unnecessarily large.
The toilet water closet is to the left of the entrance, convenient for families and those who may welcome guests. That said, it’s the only such time I can recall no toilet in the bathroom (shower, vanity, and tub but toilet in the hallway.)
Bedroom
The bedroom had more than enough space, a couch with pullout queen bed was made for our daughter. Without the bed pulled out, there was a lot of room for a Parisian hotel and it was one more reason to love this hotel.
A Nespresso machine has plenty of coffee, a minibar underneath with triggered slots, and an open wardrobe that features space for luggage and a pair of large drawers underneath.
Balcony
The reason I chose this property was its proximity to the Eiffel tower due to our short stay. The balcony view was incredible and our daughter was elated to not only be so close, but such stunning views with on-the-hour sparkling lights.
Bathroom
The water closet toilet (pictured below) was welcome as I mentioned before.
The bathroom had both a soaking bathtub, and a very large shower, with a vanity and large mirror.
I wasn’t familiar with the toiletry brand, thankyou. I am surprised I hadn’t come across it sooner but we liked it.
Value
We loved our stay at the Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero. It reminded me that luxury isn’t just terrycloth robes and marble floors, sometimes it’s a perfect location with a walkout to the Eiffel tower. Cash rates range from €330 to €650 or 80,000 Hilton Honors points. In this instance, as we value Honors points at 0.4¢/point (or $.004/point), readers should use points for their stay, unless it drops below €320/night.
For the size of the premium room, its great location, the honoring of our elite benefits, and the great staff, there’s no question we will be back and recommend the same for LiveAndLetsFly.com readers.

Interesting review. I don’t think I could bring myself to pay that sort of money for a hotel room unless we’re talking a really special occasion, but I do prefer this sort of place to the (usually even more expensive!) ‘Olde Worlde’ luxury hotels with dark carpets, antique furniture etc.
Good review. How did you navigate the maximum occupancy of 2 in a standard room when making the reservation?
The third was a child so that may have had something to do with it. If I recall, it asked her age.

Uh, since when? For the longest time, the breakfast benefit has been for the member and up to one (1) additional registered guest in a room. That’s two people max. Do some hotels occasionally go beyond that? Yes, but never count on them giving more than two. IIRC, it’s also only two breakfasts at most other chains (except perhaps Hyatt?).
My family of 4 stayed 5 nights at a Conrad and 5 nights at a Hyatt in Italy during the summer. I redeemed points for two rooms in each property so we had 2 people per room. I am a Hilton Gold and a Hyatt Globalist. The four of us got full breakfast in both properties all included. We didn’t pay a penny. We have also stayed at several St Regis in Europe (Bonvoy Gold) and had the same benefit. I think as long as the member books you the rooms, everyone staying in those rooms get the benefit.
@Santastico, as I said, hotels can and do go beyond the minimum requirements. Like you, I’ve certainly benefited from hotels’ generosity before. However, per the terms, breakfast is up to 2 guests per room (and only the room with the Gold/Diamond in it). It’s disingenuous of @Kyle to say that HH Diamond breakfast is for up to 4 people when it’s not. All he needed to do was to say, “officially, breakfast is for up to 2 people, but on this stay, we got 4. YMMV.”

@Ladyolives – I used points, so no, I didn’t pay that. That said, the Renaissance was more (and not good) and the Park Hyatt (also a chain) routinely runs €800-1200/night.

I feel like that’s redundant, and I’ve never heard anyone call it that. It’s either been just ‘toilet’ or just ‘water closet’.

I lol’ed at this. I pictured an actual toilet in the middle of the walkway.
@Passive Poster – I’ve reviewed suites that have guest toilets, but never a primary (or master) bathroom that didn’t have a toilet at all. That’s a first after hundreds of hotels all over the world. Second, “water closet” is common in the UK and some British Commonwealth countries, but is not used in the US which is where 75% of our readership is domiciled.
So if our readership isn’t familiar with the term “water closet” but the bathroom doesn’t include a toilet (as it would more than 99% of the time) it seems like it’s worth clarifying both the term and that the bathroom doesn’t include a toilet.
With respect, this is a travel blog. I would think the majority of Americans following this site know what a WC is.
I have stayed here multiple times.
The good: breakfast, rooftop view of the Eiffel Tower, also a good view from the street in front of the hotel, location close to some tourist attractions.
The bad for Golds/Diamonds: no lounge, lack of benefits other than breakfast. For example, if you arrive early as is typical off a morning flight arrival and your room is ready, they will still charge you extra to access the room early – even if you are a Diamond.
Unless in a hurry, Paris is the last place I would eat breakfast at a hotel. There are so many amazing patisseries and cafes everywhere in the city and you can get much better food than at hotels.
Stayed at Canopy for 5 days in October and had an excellent experience! Hotel is only a couple years old, modern and very comfortable. Location can’t be beat, 1/2 block from Trocadero metro station and cafes. 10 minute walk Seine and Eiffel Tower. Staff was very attentive and first rate! Allowed us to check luggage with them for 6 days while traveled to Burgundy Nice. Breakfast buffet was very good and can also order off nenu. They even provided takeaway containers on days we wanted to take our buffet breakast while sightseeing. Would definitely stay there again.
I’ve stayed twice at this hotel – once for a couple of nights in a standard room on points and another night in their patio suite on cash. That night was pricey at $1300, but you got an exclusive large patio with unobstructed views of the Eiffel tower – a terrific opportunity to propose to a SO which I took full advantage of.
