Review: Extime Lounge Paris Charles DeGaulle International – 2BD

Kyle Stewart Posted onAugust 28, 2022August 28, 2022 14 Comments

During a trip to Paris, I tried the new Extime Lounge at Paris Charles DeGaulle International Airport in Terminal 2B/2D. It was as middle of the road as a lounge gets.

Location and Access

The Extime Lounge is accessible after security in Terminals 2B/2D servicing predominately star alliance carriers but also available for cash entry. Star Alliance passengers in Paris used to have a great number of options but nearly all lounges are closed that serve these carriers, this is a rare option.

Near Gate D50, the entrance to the lounge is along a white wall, down a short hallway to a lift, up one level t0 Floor 3, and then down a hallway again to the open doors.

Passengers traveling on premium tickets or with appropriate status will have access when flying:

  • Aegean
  • Austrian Airlines
  • Finnair
  • Germanwings
  • IcelandAir
  • ITA Airways
  • Lufthansa
  • Royal Air Maroc
  • Swiss
  • Voyageurs Du Monde (membership)

Seating and Layout

The Extime Lounge is a long rectangle with several separate rooms. The first is a small library anteroom, best for quiet parties and those who do not need power. During my visit it was unoccupied. Following that a large dining room with seating for more than 50 guests and opposite the food and beverage area and with a pair of bathrooms and a shower room (more on that shortly.)

The last room faces the tarmac and is more for those who are looking to work and congregate with coworkers. Outlets are available at every seat, there is a bar against one wall for single travelers just in to have a quick bite too.

Food, Drink, and Amenities

I visited in the late afternoon and found a salad and cold food bar, a cereal station (two types.)

Hot food items included fish filets in a cream sauce, white rice, and a pair of very tired Italian dishes: penne pasta and cooked zuccini.

I tried the fish filet with rice (average at best) and some herb cherry tomatoes, cheese, and olives.

Soft drinks and coffee were on offer as well as a single bottle of most base liquors and a bottle of iced white wine as well a bottle of red. The booze was self-serve which some guests will appreciate, and the brands were reasonably mid-grade – nothing top shelf, but also not well brands.

The restrooms were interesting. Below you will see the entrance for male and female restrooms – obviously clearly marked for gender.

After a day in Paris following an overnight flight for which no arrival lounge was available, I wanted a shower. The lounge offers showers… for €20. I found this to be expensive and really tacky. The fee includes a “shower kit” but I knew I would have access to a proper lounge when I arrived at my connection airport and couldn’t stomach spending €20, especially with just 30 minutes available in the lounge including any food and beverage before my flight.

Conclusion

The Extime lounge was beautiful and convenient for my flights. There were plenty of power outlets and it was easy to find privacy and a place to work and eat without disturbing others. The food wasn’t great, in fact, I probably wouldn’t have eaten anything hot if I were to visit again and I found the shower fee to be distasteful. Perhaps for €5-10 I would have given it a try, but €20 seemed steep.

What do you think? Have you tried the Extime lounge? How was your experience?

I have to say I like the look of the lounge, the dark contrasting trims exude elegance, IMO.

Too bad I am predominantly a SkyTeam guy so I would likely visit the AF lounges.

Tend to agree with Jan. Looks pretty good actually! Lots of space and doesn’t seem too crowded. $20 does seem very steep. One of those “sorry did I not hear you correctly” ?

You have been quick Kyle, in a way, because I believe this lounge has just opened this summer if not some days ago.

It is the first review I read about it.
The sheltair one (ex-AF one in the AF furniture) is closed now.

Very interesting that you been there.

Hi Kyle, was there a view to the tarmac from the lounge?

@Esa – There was indeed a view of the tarmac (you can see the windows facing it in the shot with tan “stitched” seating and a little in the mirror reflection. However, there weren’t many aircraft visible at the time.

    We felt very uncomfortable when we were asked to show our boarding passes after being admitted as business class passengers of Swiss; aparently the “problem” was the length of our permanence; we left the lounge immediately;

rude and arrogant staff. Especially the lady at the reception treated me like a piece of garbage.

I agree with Kyle’s review. It’s spacious, has plenty of outlets but the food selection is below par for a lounge. The wifi is good and the bathrooms are clean. It’s better than most of what CDG has had to offer here in the past so the expectations need to be held in check. The front desk staff was nice, the view of the runway is great. Can’t ask for cleaner at CDG. But the food….no thanks!

I understand that British Airways now uses it, too.

Thank you for this excellent review. Do they allow small pets travelling in-cabin?

My experience at extime Lounge Terminal B at Paris CDG airport was amazing this morning. Great breakfast, relaxing music, clean shower and mainly my zoom at the vip Lounge was just perfect.

Thanks to Olga ! You were great and extremely professional
