In my teaser post on the Hyatt Place Bangkok, I lauded this hotel’s comfort and amenities. Here’s a full review of the hotel.
Located on Sukhumvit 24, the Hyatt Place is the newest property in Hyatt’s Bangkok portfolio. A mid-tier hotel, my room rate was $78. I understand that you can get some incredible AirBnB or boutique properties for cheaper, but I factor in hotel choice on both a transactional and long-term basis. Thus, I figure that 60 nights per year gets me discernible benefits and therefore I’m happy to stay in a nice Hyatt property in Bangkok even if there are ostensibly better choices for less money.
I took the MTR from Bangkok (BKK) and connected to to the BTS at Phaya Thai station. The hotel is a short walk from the Phrom Phong BTS station.
Upon arrival, a group of bellhops greeted me outside the door and escorted me upstairs to the lobby. The lobby is strikingly beautiful…it is certainly far different than your cookie-cutter Hyatt Place in the USA.
This hotel will have a few suites, though none were opened yet during my soft-opening stay (only about half the floors were open). I did, however, receive a corner room that had a great view of the city and copious amounts of natural light.
Hyatt Place Bangkok Guest Room
The room was bright, clean and new–it smelled a bit like Ikea–and it was quite spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable and I liked the open design.
Perhaps most of all, I appreciated that there were electrical outlets and USB ports everywhere. Having a plug within arm’s reach wherever you were in the room is so helpful!
The bathroom wasn’t spacious, but bright and clean. No bathtub, just a shower. The bathroom amenities were identical to Hyatt Place properties around the world, including the USA.
Hyatt Place Bangkok Rooftop Bar + Pool + Fitness Center
Up on the top floor a rooftop bar and pool is still under construction, but the workout center was complete. It spans two rooms with cardio equipment, free weights, and strength machines.
Hyatt Place Bangkok Breakfast
Breakfast is in a beautiful dining room. The selection includes American, European, Thai, and Chinese food. It’s not Park Hyatt Bangkok breakfast, but it’s an excellent spread.
Hyatt Place Bangkok Pantry + Lobby Bar
In the lobby, a pantry offers meals for purchase. A microwave is also available to warm up your choice.
Next to the pantry is a locker if you check out but need to store your belongings during the afternoon or evening.
The lobby also contains a small bar offering alcohol and coffee.
CONCLUSION
I like this property very much. I won’t lie — I prefer both the Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt, but that should come as no surprise. This is a lower-tired property at a lower price point. But with a spacious and comfortable room and great amenities for a so-called limited-service property, I highly recommend it.

I assumed you stayed there one night and then immediately went to the PH. I liked the suites at the PH and the bar upstairs. Really cool Korean American girl in charge there.
Yeah, really nice room and amenities.
Many thanks for this review (years later, I know!) I will be spending four weeks at this property soon and your review touched on all of the things I had questions about (especially outlets – thanks for the photos!) and amenities in the room.
My pleasure! Enjoy your trip. The location is ideal.
