Review: Qantas First Class Lounge Los Angeles

Matthew Klint Posted onMay 13, 2017May 13, 2017 1 Comment

The Qantas First Class Lounge at LAX is the best lounge in the United States. It’s not even a close contest.

The lounge combines natural light with neutral colors to create a luxurious atmosphere. Ample seating areas (room for over 200 people without feeling packed) and room to spread out makes this an attractive lounge to arrive early for.

You’ll notice the lounge is divided into sections — one optimized for working, another for lounging, another for socializing.

The lounge offers eight shower stalls if you need to freshen up before or between flights.

Qantas First Class Lounge Dining

Food in this lounge is worth factoring in extra time for. An a la carte menu changes seasonally and offers high-quality dishes and barista-made coffee. As is trendy, many ingredients are locally sourced, including a selection of wine pairings from California. My visit was last summer for breakfast. Not only were my eggs expertly prepared, but the bread and butter were superb and cappuccino amazing.

Qantas First Class Lounge Drinking

Don’t forget the bar, either–it is well stocked with an elaborate cocktail menu and wine from California and Australia:

Capacity: 221 guests (17,500 square feet)

Location: Level 5 (upstairs after security), Tom Bradley International Terminal

Operating Hours: 6:30a to 11:30p, 7 days per week

Access Eligibility: Departing first class ticket on a oneworld carrier or oneworld Emerald member flying with any oneworld carrier in any cabin. Arriving first class passengers are also granted access provided they are connecting on a oneworld carrier (in any cabin of service).

CONCLUSION

Not many words in this review — I think the pictures speak for themselves. I’ve been to many great lounges inside the USA, but this one is my favorite.

That’s not entirely correct on access privileges. Oneworld gives you lounge access based on arriving flight, so if I arrive in international first class at LAX and have an onward AA domestic flight (or Oneworld international flight) in any cabin, I have access to the Qantas lounge the same way I have access to Cathay Pacific F lounges at HKG with onward flights in Cathay business class.
