American Airlines has added Royal Jordanian to the growing list of carriers that you can now redeem AAdvantage miles for online. RJ is a oneworld partner based in Amman that serves Chicago, Detroit, New York, and Montreal in North America and has an extensive route network throughout the Middle East and Asia.
The list of partner awards now bookable on aa.com has grown to include:
- Air Berlin
- Alaska Airlines
- British Airways
- Finnair
- Hawaiian Airlines
- Royal Jordanian
- Qantas
No Cathay Pacific or JAL yet, but I suspect it is only a matter of time…which makes my award consultation service less valuable when you can so easily find the space yourself!
But there is plenty of award space right now on RJ, particularly for travel next spring and beyond–now that it is bookable for all on aa.com look for it to diminish quickly, as EVA, Swiss, and Turkish did when United added that to online searchability. No fuel surcharges on RJ and angled lie-flat beds in business on their A340s!
Have they officially joined Oneworld at this point? If so, are they bookable using Avios? And do they charge a fuel surcharge?
Yes, they have joined oneworld and you’ve been able to book RJ space online with British Airways for a couple years now. There is a fuel surcharge on these flights, though not as heavy as British Airways own metal.
