Russia Warns Of Moving To USA – Propaganda Or Humor?

There’s an entertaining new video that has surfaced warning that life in the United States of America is not all that it seems. Is this actual Russian propaganda or simply a spoof intended to be a joke?

New Russian Video Warns Of Moving To USA

Last month I wrote about the “propaganda” video shared by the Russian Embassy in Spain which extolled life in Russia and offered a veiled threat that winter is coming, underscoring Europe’s reliance upon Russian fossil fuels.

I found the commercial a bit over-the-top, with the strong American accent and uncomfortable imagery bringing into question whether the video was just a spoof.

However, in that case the fact that it was shared by the Russian Embassy’s official Twitter account made it newsworthy.

Now, a new video has emerged about a Russian family emigrating to the USA, warning that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

This can’t be for real, can it? pic.twitter.com/y4wuEveCFE

In part, the video showcases:

  • A “husband” who appears female, is overweight, and releases flatus while being seated
  • A flight attendant restricts the Russian passenger from eating meat because it “offends” the vegetarian passengers seated behind them.
  • Despite there being a line to use the lavatory, a black passenger is allowed to cut in front of the white passengers because “his people endured the oppression of white people for many years”
    • The white passengers are also made to kneel down and bow to the black man because “we owe all African Americans a debt.”
  • The Russian family is asked to move to the front of the cabin because a childless couple seated behind them is offended to have their son within their line of sight

Like the other video, I find it very hard to believe that this is intended as serious propaganda, at least in the traditional sense of the word (biased information to promote a political cause). I guess it could be propaganda, but the thing about effective propaganda is that it usually feels like it could be true.

There may be a lot of things wrong with the USA, but no one is asking parents to move because seatmates are offended by their children or restricting people from eating meat. The video is so outlandish it seems to be a parody rather than propaganda.

Then again, from the country that invaded Ukraine on the pretext they were Nazis, sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction.

CONCLUSION

A new “propaganda” video highlights how bad the USA is. While the USA is far from the paradise of the world, I’m heartened that military-aged youth in this country are not deliberately breaking their arms to avoid being conscripted into an illegal war that will not end well for the nation that is foolishly waging it…

Mathew, you obviously did not get it. This is strongly exaggerated video to make the points. And they are valid. Nobody will ask any family to move. Just showing this “i am offended” attitudes which is so common in US.

No, I get it. I just wonder if that is the point or if it is just to make us laugh.

The line about democracy was interesting. Was that their unintended way of saying there’s no democracy in Russia?

It’s satire on the level of family guy, south park, or other shows out there.

By your final line in your report it is clear that you are too young to remember the Vietnam war against which many young American men tried to avoid conscription by methods fair or foul or moving to Canada. That is not to say that the Russian aggression against Ukraine is justified; Putin is as bad as Hitler and is clearly a war criminal. But the US also had an ignoble moment which we should not forget.

I think that was actually my point – that we don’t even have to go back as far as Vietnam (where able-bodied men also feigned injury or homosexuality or escaped to Canada) but need only go back to Iraq circa 2003 to see an illegitimate war perpetrated by the USA. It’s nice to be on the other side this time, but should be a very sober reminder for us that the apple does not fall far from the “free” (or the tree).

        Matthew,
not sure about the illegitimate war being “on our own soil”; surely it was on Iraqi soil?

I meant the U.S. waging a war, but I should have said it better.

Kind of looks like something the GOP put together to battle “wokeness”. Birds of a feather and all that…

Also, it’s propaganda rather than propoganda as spelled in the title…

Let’s follow the trail of crumbs. While this appears to be Russian propaganda, it is actually Maga propaganda. Putin groomed trump to praise him. Trump groomed his supporters to believe in liar worship and violence as taught by Putin. So now we have home made Russian propaganda delivered to advance Maga & trump. Full circle propaganda. And those who wish to believe can go to Russia and enjoy the poison, real media manipulation and the biggest gaslighting on the planet.

Lol you clowns still buy the collusion nonsense. The FBI and a special counsel debunked all your crazy conspiracy theorys.

But the video is spot on and truthful.

Is it satire? In the strict sense of the word, sure.

But uff… this is horrible. That people are willing to support Russia because they’re occasionally questioned about pronoun usage or showing some decency when it comes to food allergies… get a grip, people.

I agree with Maryland’s comments. I did not find this humorous in the least. I have traveled to Russia several times both working as a flight attendant ( USSR days ) and in 2016. I enjoy the Russian people but have developed nothing but utter contempt for the government.
    This video offends me.

Let’s be realistic. The video is showing a mirror to the West. And it’s not even going into deeper issues, such as a the government-big-media censorship, big pharma’s deep reach or cultural perversion. Russia no longer claims to be the worker’s paradise, but the West still claims to be a democracy

Funny satire. Worthy of the best days of Saturday night Live back when Belushi and Ackroyd were there.

If you doubt that Nazism is still a thing in the Ukraine please google “Stepan Bandera” and “Azov Regiment”.
