My short 387-mile journey from Copenhagen to Prague onboard an SAS A320neo in “Plus” class (soon to be known as “Premium” class, but currently a hybrid between premium economy and business class) was pleasant. The ground product in particular makes this product a value-add.
SAS A320neo Premium Class Review (CPH-PRG)
After a great day in Copenhagen, I arrived early at Kastrup Airport for my short hop to Prague. It was a cold, rainy morning, making me all the more thankful for the beautiful weather I enjoyed the day before.
Perhaps due to the overnight in Copenhagen, I was not checked in for the Copenhagen-Prague leg and had to pick up a boarding pass at the check-in counter…it never showed up on the SAS app even though the entire ticket was on a single PNR.
SAS premium cabin passengers enjoy expedited security via “SAS Fast Track,” a smooth process that took mere moements to clear.
I enjoyed a nice breakfast in the lounge prior to boarding my flight to Copenhagen.
SAS (SK) 767
Copenhagen (CPH) – Prague (PRG)
Sunday, March 30
Depart: 8:30 AM
Arrive: 9:45 AM
Duration: 1hr, 15min
Distance: 387 miles
Aircraft: Airbus A320neo
Seat: 2A (“Plus” Class)
The A320neo Plus seat (marketed as premium economy by SAS, through sold as business class by other carriers) is a standard economy class seating in a 3-3 configuration. Legroom was not an issue considering I had an entire row to myself, but would have felt constrained if all three seats in my row were occupied. It included a USB-A charger next to the upper literature pocket.
Copenhagen to Prague is only about an hour in the air, but flight attendants wasted no time distributing breakfast after takeoff. SAS doesn’t (yet) offer business class on intra-Europe flights, but offers a premium economy (“Plus”) product that includes a meal.
I love quality over quantity and the breakfast had excellent ingredients:
- Organic plain yogurt with granola
- Sliced ham and cheese with lettuce and tomatoes
- Warm bread
- Froosh mandarin orange + elderflower juice
You could taste the quality…it was nice things to eat, not just cheap, low-quality slop.
My only complaint was all the waste…SAS will hopefully go back to serving meals on ceramic dishes and drinks in glasses as it formally restores business class on intra-Europe flights.
Note: If you are traveling in economy class, you can also pre-order this meal, but only in advance
I also enjoyed cashews and a mango smoothie onboard…this brand of cashews with sea salt is my absolute favorite: the perfect blend of oil and salt.
Wi-Fi worked onboard (free for SAS Gold and Diamond members, but no longer free for Plus passengers) and there were also beautiful views out the window.
We landed on time in Prague.
I was momentarily confused when I saw a pair of Czech Airlines planes, but apparently the carrier lives on as a charter carrier.
I was soon in an Uber and on my way to my hotel…I had an appointment with little time to spare.
CONCLUSION
A short and perfectly pleasant flight on SAS. The key value-add is the fast track security and lounge access in Copenhagen, though the breakfast onboard was nice. I look forward to the formal return of business class this autumn on intra-European flights.
“would have felt constrained if all three seats in my row were occupied”
Even more than the food, the biggest welcome of them going back to business class is blocking the middle seat.
Central European Time must move differently. Imagine being served a nice breakfast within a one hour flight. That is efficiency.
Ugh SAS and Air Baltic have such a disappointing premium product for inter travel in Europe.
