Fish + Pasta = Delicious in SWISS First Class

Matthew Klint Posted onOctober 5, 2017November 14, 2023 1 Comment

Now an elusive award redemption available only to upper-tier elite members of the Miles & More program, SWISS first class used to be a relatively easy award booking to score. For this week’s Meal of the Week I review a particularly good dinner aboard SWISS First Class.

I was traveling from Shanghai (PVG) to Zurich (ZRH) aboard an A340. This was back in 2012, but meal service remains fairly unchanged in first class and SWISS is still even operating the A340 with the same seats in first class that were already dated back then.

Love and marriage, love and marriage…go together like a horse and carriage.

-Frank Sinatra

While that song may be forever negatively associated with Married with Children, it’s the same way I think about fish and pasta. One goes with the other. I almost always have fish with pasta (though not always pasta with fish).

Anyway, SWISS manages exquisite onboard catering, even out of Mainland China (where other worldwide carriers seem to struggle).

My main course included a beautiful halibut filet and a delicious linguini pasta drizzled in a lemon butter sauce. With fresh al dente vegetables, it made for an incredible meal.

I’ve never been disappointed by a meal on SWISS.
