United CEO Oscar Munoz penned a beautiful to note to employees concerning the Thanksgiving Day holiday.

Dear United family,

Thanksgiving is a time when we take stock of what we’ve accomplished over the past year and give thanks to all the wonderful people in our lives who’ve helped us along the way.

So, I want take a moment to personally thank all of you, my fellow United family members, for everything you have done to make this year one we can all be proud of.

Thank you for taking care of our customers and one another, for weathering difficult storms and rebuilding our communities in need, and for helping us build a better United Airlines in so many ways.

I can’t tell you how proud I am of all that you have done this year to elevate United’s service to our customers and to the communities we live in. I’ve witnessed how you joined hands and rallied together in the face of an historic series of storms and natural disasters, continuing to deliver stellar operating performance while transporting millions of pounds of supplies to hard hit areas and helping to raise millions of dollars in relief funds. And I’ve marveled at the countless ways you have made United a better, more inclusive and altogether more exciting place to work.

When so many families are travelling to spend time with family and loved ones, this time of year is our time to shine as an airline. So, I also want to thank all of our team members who will be working hard, often far away from home, and doing great things over the holiday season.

In short, of all the things I am grateful for this Thanksgiving, there are two that rise above all. Not only am I deeply grateful for all the countless ways you have contributed to our team, I am also thankful to simply count myself as your colleague.

From my family to all of yours, Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.

Sincerely,
Oscar

A very nice note indeed. No further commentary necessary.

“A year we can all be proud of.” Only 1 beating caught on tape. That’s how United defines success.

Rjb — there are other items for “a year we can all be proud of.”

Dr. Dao getting beaten isn’t their only debacle. Let’s see…
      1) Threatening a passenger with handcuffs if he doesn’t get off because (as they arrogantly stated), “we have a priority list and you’re at the bottom.”
      2) A ticket agent is rude to a customer so he records the interaction. Then she cancels his reservation out of spite.
Note: She also tells him he is not allowed tape the interaction. That is not true — an airport police officer said he was allowed to because it was a public space.
      3) The leggings debacle.
      4) Sending a customer 3000 miles to San Francisco instead of Paris.
      5) Killing a giant rabbit.
There are probably others, but that’s all I can remember at the moment.

But at least it wasn’t like 2015 when a United employee shoves a passenger to the ground and he is unconcious. Two employees just stand around and ignore the situation. 50 seconds later another passenger in the Airport Terminal (a nurse) tends to him and asks somebody to call 911. The United employee says the man fell.
