I was pleasantly surprised by the number of wonderful restaurants on the Faroe Islands. For dinner the first night we dined at a seaside restaurant called THE TARV Grillhouse.
Restaurant Review: THE TARV, Faroe Islands
We did not have a reservation, but were walking around the beautiful port in Tórshavn and came upon it.
We glanced over the menu, saw that it looked wonderful, and inquired about a table. It was 5:40 pm and the resturant had opened 10 minutes earlier. No other customers were present, but we were told that we could be accommodated if we finished our dinner by 7:00 pm.

The grillhouse specializes in high-quality beef, though for dinner tonight both my friend and I stuck to seafood and fish.
I loved the dining room, which was cozy, especially when the candles were lit. The ominous gray evening outside made it so nice to be inside (the rain soon started…).
Tap water (love it) and warm bread were promptly brought over.
For my starter, I chose scallops (“Queen scallops with herb velouté sauce and cauliflower pureé”), which were small but delectable…so delicious and the highlight of the meal.
While the scallops may have been the highlight, the charcoal-grilled salmon was tremendous and the portion huge: a double portion to be precise. The plate included pureed sweet potatoes as well as grilled cauliflower and artichoke.
I also ordered a side green salad, which was served with fresh onions and a light vinegar dressing:
and a side of grilled potatoes, topped in olive oil and freshly parsley:
It was getting late and I had already had my coffee allotment for the day, but the restaurant had a great coffee machine.
The head chef is named Wi Ounsa and is from Thailand (I saw her on the way out and complimented her cooking). This restaurant is a treasure in Tórshavn and highly recommended.
Nice restaurant review and thanks for also displaying the menu.
How much did the rental car cost (per day) this time?
$171, including tolls.
Dinner looks delicious. Appreciate the scallop close up and the beautifully grilled salmon. Yum
The Mikkeler bar in Torshavn is a great place to have a drink.
Is the salmon local ? Looks delicious
Yes, the salmon was local. So delicious!
Norse Atlantic just announced service from Faroe Islands to New York (Stewart?) starting later this year.
Atlantic Airways:

Not Norse Atlantic, but rather Atlantic Airways. Norse Atlantic has no aircraft capable of landing at FAE.
LOOKS GREAT HOW DID YOU GET THERE?
