My Top 10 Hotels Stays in 2017

Matthew Klint Posted onDecember 31, 2017November 14, 2023 5 Comments

I spent roughly 85 nights in a hotel room in 2017…not too bad, but still quite a few nights away from home. Here’s a list of my top 10 hotels I personally stayed at this year.

My list is admittedly boring. Every single hotel on the list is a Hyatt. It simply demonstrates my loyalty. I did stay in a handful of Marriott, Hilton, and independent properties, but they did not make the cut.

This time, we’ll count down instead of starting with my #1 hotel.

10. Park Hyatt Washington DC

The room is spacious, service above-average, but what really sets this hotel apart is Blue Duck Tavern, the hotel’s exceptional restaurant.

9. Hyatt Regency Dushanbe, Tajikistan

The corner suite upgrade was nice, the food excellent, but cheap massages helped propel this property into my top ten list.

8. Park Hyatt Zurich

My stay here was in the midst of a hectic business trip, but an excellent room service dinner and breakfast plus a beautiful spa helped to make this a great stay.

7. Hyatt Andaz Amsterdam

a boat on the water

a room with a bed and sink

Ultra-modern and hip, this hotel is in the heart of Amsterdam and perfect for a weekend in Amsterdam.

6. Hyatt Regency Tashkent

This beautiful new property features beautiful common areas, several restaurants, and comfortable guest rooms.

5. Park Hyatt Hamburg

A perenial favorite, this property offers an exceptional breakfast spread, comfortable room, and even a lounge. The central location also makes this my favorite property in Hamburg.

4. Hyatt Carmel Highlands

Hyatt Carmel Highlands Suite Upgrade

My new family favorite, I spent six nights here this year and already have my next stay booked for 2018. The views are breathtaking and the suites, with kitchens and fireplaces, are quite cozy.

3. Park Hyatt Bangkok

a restaurant with tables and chairs

a hallway with stairs and railings

Bangkok’s newest luxury hotel is beautiful. The rooms are fine, but the common areas are where this hotel really shines.

2. Park Hyatt New York

a swimming pool inside a building

It’s tough to find a decent-sized hotel room in Manhattan, but my suite was beautiful and spacious. Set aside time to enjoy the pool as well.

1. Park Hyatt Vienna

I was upgraded to one of the most beautiful rooms of one of Vienna’s most beautiful hotels. This is a masterpiece property.

We’ll see if I venture beyond more Hyatts in 2018!

I just got Globalist status (the 20 night challenge that all the real elites hate) so I’ll be staying in Hyatt properties all year. This is a fun list!

@ Matthew –Will you broaden your hotel stays beyond Hyatt in 2018?

I hope so. Will only need 55 Hyatt nights next year and award stays will be included, so that should mean fewer Hyatt hotels.

Why Hyatt rather than Starwood – any particular reason?

Chase transfer partner helps and I’m just emotionally loyal since Faster Free Nights promo of the Great Recession.
