Travelers beware: a large-scale military parade in Washington, DC on President Trump’s 79th birthday will require the closure of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and the delay of over 100 flights.
Washington National Airport (DCA) Will Close On June 14, 2025 For Military Parade
On June 14, 2025 the US Army will hold a military parade to commemorate its 250th anniversary. The date chosen for the parade coincides with President Trump’s 79th birthday and will mark the largest military parade in a generation (the last major one was in 1991 to celebrate the US victory in Operation Desert Storm).
The parade begins at 6:00 pm and will end at 9:30 pm, with fireworks to follow. That will delay over 100 flights, though carriers may be adjusting schedules in the following week to avoid takeoffs and landings during that period. View From The Wing notes some southbound departures may be released after 8:45 pm if winds cooperate.
A banner on the DCA website reads:
To accommodate aircraft flyovers along the parade route, followed by a fireworks display, the Federal Aviation Administration is expected to suspend airline operations at DCA — affecting scheduled flights.
The parade, which is expected to cost up to $45 million, has long been a fixation of President Trump. It will include military flyovers, including more than 150 helicopters (64 Apaches, 60 Black Hawks, and 47 Chinooks). Starting near the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, the parade will proceed across the Memorial Bridge, circle the Lincoln Memorial, and continue along Constitution Avenue NW between 15th and 23rd Streets.
Approximately 6,600 soldiers and 150 military vehicles (including M1A1 Abrams tanks, Strykers, and Paladin artillery) will take part. President Trump will hold a “reenlistment ceremony” for 250 soldiers.

Russia (and the former Soviet Union) may be the best known for its military parades, but France does them as well on Bastille Day in July.

My own feeling is that tanks in the streets should be reserved for national emergencies only and the Posse Comitatus Act, now under threat, is one of the most important safeguards of liberty and the separation of powers.
CONCLUSION
If your travel plans include DCA next Saturday, June 14, 2025, be aware that you might face delays or cancellations, especially in the evening, thanks to a military parade. I’d recommend avoiding DCA altogether next weekend because road closures and traffic snarls will likely make journeys into the District or Maryland quite tedious.
@ Matthew — This is perhaps the most sickening event ever to be held in Washington DC.
I’ll bite….why
Note there were 274 murders in DC last year. But to you this is more “ sickening”. I guess the death of mainly minorities is OK to you.
Ok, Dave. If you actually cared about any of those deaths you could have ground to stand on.
But based on prior posts and attitudes you don’t.. so stop being cute
Unreasonable military parades or marches are a lot of trouble and bother both for the troops and everyone else .
A meaningful military ceremony is a salute of respect for the fallen , with the unit flag dipped , and the national flag held high .
As retired military, who proudly served in many parades recognizing fallen military and key holidays in our country’s past, I am surely disappointed that this is happening = just for Trump and his birthday. How far this country’s leadership has fallen in just a few months. Mussolini would be proud……..
What a national disgrace this parade and President
Is trump going to be the grand Marshal wearing a military uniform covered in medals?
So, not for President Trump’s birthday? It’s for the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army? Your headline is just a little misleading, intentionally, I assume. Kind of nasty and dishonest. It reflects poorly on you while I think your intent was to reflect poorly on the president.
My headline is not misleading, but I pray you repent of your idolatry for this dotard.
Market back up again today, jobs numbers are great. NOTHING Trump is doing is hurting any of your readers. Bottom line is everyone of us will be worth more at the end of 2025 than we were on January 1st. And anyone that isn’t can only blame their own laziness and life choices.
Just simple facts.
And I really doubt any of us really care if some illegals are sent back to where they came from. Or if some dirty potential terrorists from certain counties aren’t welcomed here.
When was the last time the market was down over the course of a President’s administration?
I care if “illegals are sent back to where they come from.” My city desperately needs the labor. They’re also our friends and neighbors, and I care about their wellbeing and humanity.
So the Gang Members and rapists and murderers are your friends and neighbors?? Sounds like you need to move to a safer area!!
@ Idiot — Many things are far more important than money. If that’s your measure of success, you are truly pathetic.
June 14 is also flag day.
jm — You are a naive fool.
The parade is in celebration of the US Army’s 250th anniversary. The US Army was founded on June 14, 1775 established by the 2nd Continental Congress. Trump’s birthday just happens to also be on June 14. The TDS epidemic continues……
Only to be surpassed by the OTL outbreak.
The guy who takes men’s balls in his mouth trying to be relevant again. Imagine going through life being so abnormal by supporting terrorists who would throw him and his boy toys off a roof for their bone smuggling.
The self hate must be true about you freaks.
Lol try to come up with some new material instead of the same tired old hareful nonsense, you human equivalent of the hair on a rhino’s testicle.
Teejay the 250 anniversary was NOT to be a parade ( a low budget display of equipment on the National Mall). POTUS made it into his 45 million birthday parade. Save your indoctrinated brain for future studies.
Self-indulgent and insane. Elon is right.
What a disgusting human being Taco Trump is.
With all the sycophants around him who don’t have the courage to say the king is naked.
Ughhhhhh…. LOL… Getting absolutely nauseated with a visual of our nekked King !
Of all the damage the weasel has done to this country, I find his hijacking of a small military celebration (without a parade) and turning it into a 45 million dollar dictator birthday fest beyond shame. I pray for those that think it is justified.
Trump is a master of inserting himself into grey areas, where he has plausible deniability of wrongdoing. If you don’t like him, you’ll rule one way, his supporters will rule the other. I think the nuanced take of calling it a grey area is the correct answer.
I’ll make sure to have tacos for lunch and have my TV turned off at 6:30 pm EST. Let me know when there’s a real parade honoring our military and veterans.
Should be on June 17th. That is our national Garbage Man’s day.
I am just a kid, and am already at what Trump is doing to this country. How soon will this democracy turn into a dictatorship?
My goodness, Criminal Trump gets more deranged every day.
At least you all knew what you were voting for so no complaints as he Makes America a Laughing Stock Again.
MALSA
$45 million and what about the costs involved with shutting down an airport and God only knows what else so Our Dear Leader can have a Birthday Party?
Better if the $45 million would be given to a fund for the thousands laid off by DOGE….
Wow what a target that parade would be…
I’m fully in support of this. June 14th, while an important day for the Army, is a more important day for our country. Our Leader, the greatest president in the history of leaders (both elected and not-elected) is turning 79. There’s no reason anybody should be traveling that night anyway. I’ll be doing the AMERICAN thing and attending a church service (not a ‘mass’) then going home and watching this great parade to honor our LEADER on Fox News. Sometimes FREEDOM means the airport is closed. Deal with it!
What a lovely kiss on the criminal’s orange ass.
“Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel,” as Samuel Johnson said…
He is either being sarcastic or someoene else is posting as Jerry.
I’m being sarcastic. I was just amusing myself.
Ya almost had me there ! … Good one !
I’m hoping for a big big firework right on TACO…wink, wink….
When I was a kid in small town America, there was a little military parade. A few Jeeps drove in a little formation. The rest were school bands and local civic groups.
The Army has exceeded its recruiting quota early and other branch’s report much higher recruitment as well, the best since 2014. This is what happened when young men and women have leaders who earn respect and they are willing to make service sacrifices for. An Administration that values their service, doesn’t make it a DEI experiment or virtue signaling.
Your photo of a Soviet parade demonstrates your lack of respect and lack of intelligence.
Bravo… Another great sarcastic comment !
Soviet parade? That photo is from a few weeks ago…and was the type of parade Agent Orange has lusted for since his first term.
So what you’re saying is that the Army DOES NOT NEED a recruiting event?
I ask because you could almost argue that spending $45 million like this for recruiting marketing might make at least some sense, but if if recruiting is on or above goals, then the spending is wasteful government spending.
So sad to see it looks like Pee-u-tin, Kim Jong Un & Xi Jinping won’t be there in solidarity. But happy to see the re-enlistment of 250 brave men & women. I’m sure they’re the ones that were recently kick-ed out of the military dishonorably by our commander in chief.
Who knows, what if the military took this opportunity to initiate a coup for our banana republic ?
I do hope the serve tacos at the event to commemorate dear leader’s true form.
There’s no reason for this pomp and circumstance. Talk about wasting taxpayer funds…
Worse than North Korea lol
Looking forward to the Shriners being there with the little cars. A fitting tribute for a little man.
“We’re gonna cut wasteful government spending!!!”
“We’re gonna spend $45 million on a vanity event.”
The second bit should tell you they were never serious about the first bit.
