As I have blogged about before, my favorite way to check for Star Alliance award space is with Continental Airlines’ online award search tool. It quickly searches space, offers triple connections if necessary, and presents a two-month calendar so you can rapidly ascertain when desired space is available. The drawback is that Continental does not offer results from all Star Alliance carriers on their site including Singapore Airlines, Air China, and Swiss. But the tool is getting better. Last month Continental added Austrian Airlines to the mix and today Turkish Airlines award flights are now bookable online.
Turkish is of particular value because their award availability is quite good, especially in premium cabins from Istanbul to Asia and within Europe, and their route network is comprehensive and growing.
Eventually, I hope to be able to book all Star Alliance and partner carriers through Continental.com. The addition of Turkish Airlines marks a positive step forward.
