One of the biggest roadblocks to travel in 2021 is nebulous testing requirements, which can be confusing even to the most savvy traveler. United Airlines’ Travel Ready Center has sought to address that information gap and is now partnering with over 3,000 additional COVID-19 test centers to promote seamless travel.
Seamless Travel On United Airlines Through Travel Ready Center – 3,000 COVID-19 Test Centers Added
United’s Travel Ready Center is a “one-stop-shop” where passengers can review their specific COVID-19 travel requirements for upcoming travel, find local testing options, and upload any testing or vaccination records that might be needed for entry. Functionality is integrated into the United’s mobile app and united.com.
Documentation is reviewed by human eyes. In theory, if approved passengers can check-in for their flights without presenting documentation (this has not always been the case for me, even when I have uploaded documents in advance), though documents are subject to verification at the gate prior to boarding.
Testing–specifically whether it is required–is a common question. Not only does the Travel Ready Center list testing requirements, but starting today, United will partner with more than 3,000 Albertsons and Walmart locations across the USA to streamline testing verification.
You can schedule a test appointment through the app and testing results will be delivered to you as well to United for automatic verification.
Linda Jojo, United’s Chief Digital Officer, notes:
“United continues to deliver solutions that make it simple for customers to understand and meet all testing and vaccination requirements directly through our award-winning digital channels. As more Americans resume international travel, this enhancement to our mobile app and website will give our customers confidence and peace-of mind knowing they have access to all of the information and services they need right in the palm of their hand or on their laptop.”
The technology is developed by Accenture, part of its TrustAssure platform which promotes rapid, accurate testing around the world. With the addition of Albertsons and Walmart, United now partners with over 3,800 test centers in the USA.
CONCLUSION
In theory, United’s Travel Ready Center is a big win for travelers. Uploading documentation in advance to ensure entrance requirements are met and stress at the airport is reduced is a win-win for passengers and the airline. While quirks are still being worked out, the addition of 3,000 additional testing centers will makes it even easier to prepare for travel.
