A woman dubbed “slut-shaming Karen” was filmed berating a pair of young girls for their choice of attire prior to boarding a Frontier Airlines flight for Atlanta. The girls fought back, showering the woman with profanity in a sad verbal exchange.
Woman Confronts Girls On Frontier Airlines For Skimpy Attire
It isn’t clear which airport this was filmed in, though the departure board indicates a Frontier Airlines flight to Atlanta.
A video first appeared on TikTok, was pulled down, but was reposted to Reddit. It begins in the midst of the encounter, with the older woman lobbing insults at the young women, one with pink hair and the other with blue hair. Both girls were wearing mini-skirts and had exposed midriffs.
One of them responded with mockery as well as a strong defense.
GIRL: “You must be really attracted to my a** to be checking it out!”
WOMAN: “It ain’t your a**, sweetheart, you’re the one without the t**s.”
GIRL: “That’s fine, you don’t have to bash. As being a woman with small t**s, I’m happy with my body. Thank you.”
(applause broke out in the gate area)
The exchange continued and the profanity increased, with the the blue-haired girl stating, “Wow, people are so judgey just because we don’t look like all you basic people do.”
A man sitting next to the older woman, claiming to be a police officer, noted he had arrested prostitutes wearing more clothing than that.
The blue-haired girl responded that she was not prostitute, but she was “proud” to make $40,000 per month because “everyone pays to look at my [breasts] and pay me thousands of dollars for it.”
She also claimed to be the daughter of Atlanta’s Police Chief (I’m sure Rodney Bryant would be surprised…).
Video below…it’s not safe for work!
The older woman been labeled a “slut-shaming Karen” on social media. Karen is a pejorative slang term for “an obnoxious, angry, entitled, and often racist middle-aged white woman who uses her privilege to get her way or police other people’s behaviors.” While we generally avoid the Karen references on Live and Let’s Fly because it brings pain to many lovely Karens, the term has rapidly caught on in popular lexicon and seems to very much fit in this case.
We return to the age-old question of proper wardrobe in public and specifically on airplanes. Frontier does not publish a dress code. The girls’ private parts were covered.
If, as the original poster on TikTok asserted, it was the older woman who started the fight, then I see no defense of her conduct. Bringing attention to such wardrobe choices only emboldens people to dress even more provocatively. More fundamentally, it is not up to you, the traveler, to police the wardrobe of others. If Frontier Airlines had a problem with it, it could have said something to the girls. Mind your own business.
The video is about so much more than the volley of insults hurled back and forth. It’s also the crude language and lack of respect. What a sad look into the state of affairs of travel in 2021.
