United Airlines Transcontinental Routes Between California + Florida
United Airlines told Live and Let’s Fly:
As California’s global airline, United looks forward to offering customers on the west coast more direct service to Florida destinations including Tampa and Fort Myers beginning this fall and winter. Florida continues to be a popular destination for our customers, a trend we expect to continue into the winter months. These new routes continue to expand our West Coast network from our hubs in Los Angeles and San Francisco and provide more options for customers to reach Florida across the broader United network. With the addition of the new flights, United will operate 8 routes between California and Florida this winter.
Those eight United transcontinental routes include:
- Los Angeles – Fort Myers
- Los Angeles – Orlando
- Los Angeles – Tampa
- San Francisco – Fort Lauderdale
- San Francisco – Fort Myers
- San Francisco – Miami
- San Francisco – Orlando
- San Francisco – Tampa
CONCLUSION
United’s growth in Florida reflects surging domestic demand and a slower re-opening of the rest of the world. Sun searchers seeking a warm winter will even more options for getting to Florida this year and I would expect budget carriers will soon follow.

FLL-LAX is maybe the number one route I want added. So close! Shocked RSW gets LAX before we do
Yes, it is insane that there is no United LAX to MIA or FLL. Feel like there might be some reason behind this, like United is worried if they invade that area American will invade United’s Denver fortress?
FLL-LAX is way over saturated.
American 2x
JetBlue 3x
Spirit 2x
Delta 1x
It’s gotta be Kyle’s posts on the five favorites of Fort Myers that’s building this demand.
With all this new flying, ready for next Sunday: “The top 5 airline snack boxes to eat while flying to Fort Myers”
@Matthew, do you know if there is a reason United doesn’t have a LAX to MIA or FLL? There is clearly demand, American alone is flying 7x daily with their largest 777. Seems like United could easily fill a few 737s to that area from LAX.
Shocked by this announcement and to not see MIA or FLL included.
Agreed, though have to assume they simply do not see the yields working on that route.
