United Airlines Horror Flight: Woman Holding Baby Tells Flight Attendant, “I Will Kill You!”

a group of people on an airplane

As if a redeye flight was not bad enough already, a disturbed mother onboard cursed out, threatened to kill, and then assaulted a flight attendant on a United Airlines flight to Chicago…all while holding her baby in one arm.

Woman Tells United Airlines Flight Attendant, “I Will F*cking Kill You!” While Holding Baby In Her Arms

Eyewitness accounts and video paint the following picture of what happened onboard:

  • The incident occurred on UA476, a Boeing 777-200 redeye flight traveling from San Francisco (SFO) to Chicago (ORD) on Saturday, November 12 (tail number N211UA)
  • According to one passenger onboard, a woman began screaming “gibberish” (also invoking Jesus) early in the front, but had remained in her seat
  • She also accused the passenger next to her of being drunk and was not drunk herself or consuming any alcohol
  • At around 6:00am, just before landing, she rose to use the lavatory after flight attendants had performed their final safety checks and prepared the cabin for landing
  • Flight attendants admonished her to sit down, especially because she was carrying her baby, but she refused, noting her child needed to vomit
  • She then pushed a flight attendant away and said, “I will kill you. I will f*cking kill you.”
  • It is not clear if the troubled woman sat down before landing, but the plane landed on-time and was met by police officers

A United spokesperson told Live and Let’s Fly:

“A disruptive customer on a flight from San Francisco to Chicago was removed by law enforcement upon landing on Sunday, and one member of the flight attendant crew was taken to a hospital for evaluation. We’re grateful to our crew for handling this difficult situation with professionalism and for putting the safety of our team and our customers first.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department noted that police officers met the flight, three people were transferred to an area hospital for evaluation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is now investigating the matter.

The video was captured from at least two angles, one posted on Twitter and the other on TikTok:

An interesting conundrum for flight attendants, isn’t it? Do you grab the baby from the woman’s hand, knowing the plane would shortly be landing? It’s one thing to let a stubborn, potentially crazy lady fly through the cabin, but letting a child do so is a whole different matter.

CONCLUSION

At least one United flight attendant was battered by a crazed woman holding a young child on a redeye flight to Chicago. Both the fate and the identity of the woman are unclear, but she’s in a lot of trouble for her indiscriminate action on UA476.

Before we jump to conclusions, there are a lot of people with mental health issues who act beyond their control. Some people are scared to fly and will take prescription medication and have a bad reaction which causes someone to basically become emotionally disturbed. It would be best if society focused on understanding, treating, and preventing rather than persecuting someone who may have felt physically threatened by flight attendants “ganging up on her” in the aisle. When someone is in an emotionally disturbed state, logic is not used but a person sees a threat to their safety in the form of people in uniforms barking orders. Of course, flight attendants routinely instigate situations, abuse their power, and lie because someone complains about their bad conduct or work performance so we can’t assume the passenger is in the wrong. You know what they say about assumptions.

Yes, you are ABSOLUTELY correct there John! Every single flight attendant in the World is a liar and instigates every situation. Oh and yes routinely abuse their power. I completely agree with you @John Dogas. Any other comment you would like to make to feel better about yourself today? Carry on.

I keep reading stories like this from the US – I kind of need to jump to the conclusion that something is terribly wrong with America‘s mental health? Would be one explanation for the masses of hatred and violence across the pond. I never hear anything like this here in Europe…feel like researchers should get onto this and assess why Americans seem to be generally crazy xD

I do hear about the violent crime in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Sweden, and etc. that has made certain areas no go zones for indigenous Europeans. Let’s not pretend that crime has dropped in the U.K. as the homicide rate is higher than 1966 and has never been lower since then. Of course we should focus on the specific groups who perpetrate a majority of this and it will link up with the same who commit a majority of crime in big cities in the U.S. One group that is indigenous to Europe but commits a higher level of violent crimes are Ukrainians who had put many European countries like Poland under extreme pressure.

There have been a lot of airline incidents in the U.S. and it comes down to the quality of flight attendants. In Europe most flight attendants are under 30, are eager to do a good job so as not to be embarrassed in front of their friends, and may be more humane. The U.S. big 3 sometimes has much older flight attendants who are notorious for the worst rated service in the world. Of course there are some good Apples but that’s not the majority. The best we can hope for is mediocre service. People who should have moved on from the job 20 years ago are protected from being fired and are the ones who instigate and escalate situations more than their European counterparts.

It’s possible there are incidents in Europe we don’t hear about because they are treated as medical mental health issues and are reported only in their language.

In which European city do you live to have that information about Ukrainians? Ive been to Poland and Belgium for myself I live in Cologne and Berlin. The only problem we have is the spreading of lies about Ukrainians from Russian media.

As if German media was more accurate…in a war, there are as many opinions as there are parties involved. And let‘s face it, mass immigration as now from Ukraine has always led to an increase in crime and social instabilities. It just suits the Germans so well to neglect all these issues and welcome Ukranians with open arms just to show the Russians they can‘t win. I just have to wonder why everyone is so keen on engaging in this war instead of hoping for a soon peace…be it as an independent Ukraine or under Russian control. Buddhism teaches to accept one‘s fate…much fewer lives would have been lost if more people lived by that.

What utter rubbish: one reads all of the time about crazy things on European flights, mostly with British passengers. According to the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), unruly passengers disrupt flights within the EU every three hours, with 72 per cent of those incidents “including some form of aggression”. It’s often the flights to and from holiday destinations such as the Canaries, Balearics or Greek islands that are the scene of the worst behavior… usually drunk British louts.

Yes, we have our share of mentally unstable people here in the U.S.. However, I see reports of this behavior in a proportionate manner in Europe and Asia as well. Also, far more is sensationalized in the U.S. given the propensity of bloggers and clicks for revenue. Lest we also not forget that the EU has more stringent privacy laws and a culture of restraint in this kind of reporting. These incidents are not just an “American thing.” Just as obesity, alcoholism, and mental illness are not just an “American thing.” Talking about them openly is, however more culturally accepted here.

I think Americans communicate more in a way of being somewhat aggressive and or at least assertive. and If you ignore an American they also tend to take it as an insult. Other cultures tend to be more relaxed…Its complicated.

Granting there are many with severe mental health issues; also, granting mothers are protective of their kids and in this case the mother seemed concerned the child was ill. But there is never a circumstance where it is acceptable to place yourself, your child and others in danger as a plane is making a decent to land. There are just too many possible scenarios where things can go from routine to catastrophic such as a hard landing and the child gets dropped or thrown.

Not sure if we’re talking about an actual religious nut. Schizophrenia often presents this way. Gibberish, bizarre outbursts, and religious context, etc. This woman checked most of the boxes. Also a stressful environment could trigger. Thankfully the crew was quite brave because it’s frightening to witnesses

Remember the days when United had “businessmen’s flights?” No women on board other than the stewardesses, smoking allowed including pipes and cigars, first-class food service? United might wish to rethink the first of those restrictions.

For those of you working with people, including myself in the profession as a Registered Nurse: Never, Ever confront an angry person. Keep your distance. You are not a policeman with handcuffs and a Taser. If they don’t want to wear their seatbelt and not sit down, that’s their problem. You can report them later. It is better to physically stay away from angry people than to risk injury and physical assault to yourself while on the job.

While I understand your point about confronting a mentally disturbed person, it is absolutely not the case that a person who leaves a seat during landing or
Turbulence when the seatbelt light is on can only hurt themselves. That unbelted person can be thrown severely into a seated passenger and cause traumatic injury to the seated passenger. And in this case there is an infant who might be dropped and killed.

Curious that Mr.Klimt continues to allow such pointless and vulgar statements, himself spewing the F word in the title, when F’N or simply F would suffice. The C word, etc.Yet the man repeatedly professes his christianity.I don’t believe it is christian to unload such filth on unsuspecting readers contributing in earnest. His actions remind me of hypocritical evangelicals like Swaggart and Falwell getting caught with hookers and the poolboy.Just can’t help themselves from scraping bottom while claming otherwise.

I’m reporting the threat made, verbatim. If that makes you uncomfortable, you should look up what Isaiah meant when he referred to the good works of Israel being like a filthy rag. Spare me the false analogies and remember Matthew 7:1-5.

Quoting scripture just like Falwells, doesn’t make one pious.Gandhi said” I like your Christ but not your Christians.Your Christians aren’t like your Christ”.How about laying off off the profanity and scatological remarks?,

That baby is going to need alot of therapy later on.UAL has a spotty record too ,from the dog forced to suffocate to death in an overhead bin, doctor dragged on the floor off his flight that was overbooked,so,who knows.Lots of disturbances on flights with Brits in Europe, usually on low cost stag party flights with easyjet, ryanair, etc.Ukrainians are indeed wearing out their welcome with many hosts, due to undesirable activity by some, recently read that’s the case in Slovakia, but was has that got to do with this?
