United Airlines’ New 767-400 Economy and Business Class Seating

Matthew Klint Posted onFebruary 5, 2012December 6, 2016 4 Comments

United Airlines released photos on Facebook of the refreshed Continental 767-400 cabin interior, featuring lie-flat seats in business class and Economy Plus.

Currently, Continental’s 764s have very narrow seat pitch throughout economy class (though the front half of the cabin does have emPower ports) and business class features old recliner-style seats in a 2-1-2 configuration. The new cabin will feature up to five extra inches of legroom in Economy Plus and unlike United’s 2-2-2 configuration on their 767-300s (with narrow, but still very comfortable lie-flat business class seats), the 2-1-2 configuration will remain and Continental’s current lie-flat business class seats will be installed.

Nicer seats but more difficult upgrades…that’s a tough choice.

Any ideas on which route this aircraft will fly?

As I understand it, the 767-400 will continue to be used for international flights.

The United domestic 767-300s will go through a similar upgrade process (BusinessFirst, Economy Plus and Economy). I have heard they will likely be used for a mix of international and domestic flying, and will replace the CO 767-200 which are being retired. There are 8 762 and 14 763 currently in domestic configuration, so that doesn’t cover them all.

This source suggests these being moved to Guam: http://flyerguide.com/wiki/index.php/United_Fleet_%28UA%29

What I don’t understand, is why didn’t they go with a 1-2-1 configuration in business, so that there is isle access for everyone? There’s just this awkward middle row in the middle of the cabin.
