Flying United Airlines This Weekend? How To Make Some Money On The Side…

Matthew Klint Posted onMarch 30, 2019November 14, 2023 5 Comments

If you’re flying on United Airlines this weekend in longhaul business class, you’re in for a special treat. And I’m not necessarily talking about the seat or food or service.

Instead, I’m talking about an extra amenity United will offer on flights departing the USA at the seat of every longhaul business class passenger today and tomorrow in celebration of the first 787-10 international flight. Yes, United’s stuffed while polar bear will make a return.

In the past, the bears have looked like this:

United Polaris Bear

If you notice, the bear is named Ursa (stitched on the left leg of the bear with the United Polaris logo on the right side).

This weekend, Ursa will be wearing a Polaris bow tie.

Polaris Polar Bears are back (for a limited time) on @united, available on flights on 30+31 March to mark the debut of the 787-10 on international services. #PaxEx

If you really want one and don’t have a ticket, keep an eye on eBay. I see one currently available for $40, though not the bow tie edition:

But if you’re flying this weekend, look for these at your seat. If you’re a more enterprising type, note that many people don’t bother and just leave the stuffed animals behind after landing. If you perform a “cabin clean up” and bring home a few extra bears, it just might well pay for a nice dinner or help to offset the price of your airline ticket. I used to perform amenity kit “missions” like this…which helps to explain why my garage is full of amenity kits and United stuffed bears. So if you do follow my “money making” advice, be sure to dispose of them and not put them in a box.

CONCLUSION

The secondary market for airline memorabilia is alive and well. Whatever cabin you are flying in, don’t forget to keep an eye out for Polaris stuffed bears this weekend on United.

You could also steal the unused water from each seat and sell it to non-elites at your hotel.
