With the help of United Airlines, a lovestruck man attempted to recreate a pivotal scene of a beloved movie onboard a United flight. The mission: propose to his girlfriend.
The classic 1998 Adam Sandler movie The Wedding Singer is about a man who sings at weddings for a living. After being dumped by his fiancé, he is approached by Drew Barrymore, who hires him to help plan her wedding. He falls in love and hatches a plan to convince her to marry him before she marries her fiancé.
It culminates on an airplane, where Sandler sings I Wanna Grow Old With You as other passengers look on:
Jason and Shantel both loved that movie, though especially Jason. He thought he would propose to Shantel in the same way and discreetly asked United if it would help. United agreed and with the help of ground staff and flight attendants, he pulled off a genuine midair surprise.
His guitar was smuggled onboard and Shantel thought he was only getting up to use the lavatory. But he came back singing and playing his guitar:
She said yes!
A memorable proposal indeed and nice that it was captured by the cell phone cameras of so many flight attendants onboard…now the whole world can watch.
I’d say this proposal gives the proposal I witnessed onboard the final United 747-400 flight from San Francisco to Honolulu a run for the money!

All the other united passengers should be offered $200 vouchers for having to put up with this crap or as proposal favors depending on how romantic you are.
Come on united pay up.
