Emergency Landing at Denver as United Aircraft Catches Flames

Scary moments today as the left engine of a United Express aircraft caught fire, forcing an emergency landing and hasty evacuation.

United 5869, enroute from Aspen to Denver, encountered fire upon descent. The  SkyWest-operated Bombardier CRJ-700 was met by fire officials upon landing and quickly evacuated.

No injuries were reported.

Praises for United today, as the crew (including the pilot) flawlessly evacuated the plane. Great praise for the Denver International Airport fire department as well, who expertly handled the issue. Check out the video below to watch their fine work:

I’ve never been on a flight that has caught flames and I am thankful for that. Just because a plane catches fire does not mean it is in imminent danger of blowing up, but who wants to even take a chance?

There will be time to question what happened and why. But for now, let’s celebrate that everyone is safe.

One passenger, pleased at how well United took care of her and her son, offered one other request:

If I were United, I’d throw a few upgrades at each passenger onboard. Why not?

Striking isn’t it? Offer good service and people will be happy even in the midst of disaster.

    Glad nobody was hurt. On a flight out of Aspen, I suspect some expensive pants had to be thrown out after that one…
