What NOT to wear when you are flying in first class!

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 23, 2010 5 Comments

Maybe the guy was just protesting intrusive TSA search protocols or lost a poker bet, but I have to question what motivates someone to wear this on a plane.

Then again, I am they type of traveler who won’t change out of my suit if I am going to the airport from my office or an event, even if I have time to do it.

Interestingly, American Airlines’ contract of carriage states that passengers who are "clothed in a manner that would cause discomfort or offense to other passengers" may be denied boarding. I am frankly surprised that AA, especially in Dallas, would not invoke this clause.

What do you think airlines should do with passengers like this? I say just let them fly…if they crave attention that badly, why give them any more by refusing to board them, thereby subjecting the airline to a lawsuit and giving the media and blogoshpere more fodder?

Then again, I bet had this been a woman wearing such a skimpy outfit, she would have been denied boarding…

Yeah I think the guy was trolling for a law suite not a boyfriend. The original iReport said he was wearing a thong but the picture shows otherwise. In fact he is wearing a belt differentiating the garment from underwear. A point sure to be made in any lawsuit.

His outfit is a little extreme but I have seen women wearing a top with a bare midriff, shorts and boots similar to his outfit. Do we say these women cannot wear such outfit? Are there boy clothes and girl clothes?

I feel lucky if the person I am sitting next to does not physically extend into my seat and does not smell. This guy is not going to do anything. Too many people are watching him. He is not some well dressed handsome serial killer who just left his recent victim and is going to his next.

As with a lot of things in life we just pay attention to what is strange not what matters.

Yes, I’ve (unfortunately) seen this guy at some other airport this year. Similar get up but I think in purple. He was generally ignored. Maybe if we stop taking pictures he’ll tire of this nauseating behavior.
