In an odd story that is about masks but not really about masks, an angry wife faces jail time after repeatedly pushing a flight attendant who awakened her husband and reminded him to wear his mask during an overnight flight.
Touchy Wife Unloads On Flight Attendant Who Touched Husband
The incident occurred on June 29, 2021 on a United Airlines flight from Anchorage (ANC) to San Francisco (SFO) but Debby Dutton of Cypress, Texas has just been charged in federal court with interference with a flight crew member.
On the United flight, flight attendants had warned passengers (an announcement I’ve routinely heard) that should their mask slip down during the redeye flight, the crew would be obligated to wake them up in order to adjust it.
A couple were asleep and apparently the man’s mask slipped down over his nose. According to the FBI report, a flight attendant tapped him on the shoulder and asked him to pull his mask up. He did.
But the act of waking the man up irritated his wife. Dutton jumped up and purportedly screamed:
“You don’t touch my husband! Why you wake him?”
The flight attendant explained the procedure but the woman continued to scream, then approached the flight attendant and pushed them, sending the flight attendant backwards. Dutton pushed the flight attendant once more before sitting down.
The captain radioed ahead to SFO and police met the aircraft upon arrival and made a report. According to an FBI affidavit, two witnesses onboard saw the flight attendant pushed by Dutton.
Dutton will appear in court today and faces up to 20 years in prison, if convicted, and a fine of at least $35,000.

We can laugh, but once again a flight attendant was allegedly assaulted for simply doing their job. This is not a laughing matter and while 20 years seems far too harsh, a large fine will hopefully be a powerful lesson not to push your flight attendant.

The response by Dave Edwards is out of this word disrespectful and by no means civil. To outright bully another person is complete trash. To use the phrase “How about you don’t comment” is about as much of an asshole as one can get… and the comments section of this blog is killing any interest and enjoyment in reading otherwise great content.
One might say “just don’t read the comments”.. but in blogs that are moderated, or where people can stay on topic, people with passion or knowledge of the subject add value to the article. Would be nice to read the comments on this blogs well articulated articles, but it seems here that any article on LiveAndLetsFly that focuses on “social issues” quickly devolves into Ad Hominem attacks against other posters or political leaders instead of truly debating the issues. I have no problem with Matt deleting stuff he doesn’t find acceptable as long as it’s fair both ways, which I’m sure he will. The other option is to require a Facebook account to comment so people can’t hide behind fake accounts. I think we all believe it actually is Joe Biden posting here.

I take personal attacks to my post as a way to make my voice stronger. Brainwashed people that have no arguments will attack others. That is their way of defending something they were told to believe. I have no problem at all if someone attacks my posts.
I understand your concern about the way the comments on the blog is going but you should expect that. You chose a different way than many other travel bloggers that only care about credit cards. You chose to report every single incident that happens inside a plane and we all know these incidents ar 99.99% mask related. You have nothing similar to report before this pandemic and this stupid mask mandate. People are stressed and done with this BS. Sincere apologies for the personal attacks that I have made in the past. They won’t occur again. As you know, both of my grandfathers fought in WWII and one was severely injured. He died a short time after, when my Dad was in his early twenties. Obviously, I never got to meet him. He was decorated and received many awards and positive citations, including receiving the Purple Heart.
