World’s Least Expensive Cities – 2010

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 9, 2010 1 Comment

The LA Times recently published a feature story highlighting the ten places in the world where your dollar will go the farthest. Here’s the top 10 list:

  1. Karachi, Pakistan
  2. Managua, Nicaragua
  3. Islamabad, Pakistan
  4. La Paz, Bolivia
  5. Ashkhabad, Turkmenistan
  6. Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
  7. Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
  8. Calcutta, India
  9. Tegucigalpa, Honduras
  10. Windhoek, Namibia

While I have not had the pleasure of visiting any of these cities, I look forward to eventually visiting all ten of them. Click on the link above for photos and descriptions of each of the ten cities.

I always remember a chat with some of my airline colleagues on whether we could reach a 100 countries without the risk of getting killed. Would love to visit La Paz or Namibia, and have been to Tegucigalpa, but some of the others on the list like #1 and #3 would violate that risk threshold.
