Yesterday I reviewed the beautiful AA Flagship Lounge at New York JFK. But I left out a hidden alcove that offers a tranquil environment and à la carte dining.
When the main Flagship Lounge got crowded, I headed over to the Flagship Bridge, a terrace filled with plants and natural light that feels semi-outdoor.
It’s not easy to find it: there are no signs, just a rope to the right of the front desk (on the opposite side of the Flagship Lounge).
In a stark contrast to the main lounge, it was empty. I didn’t see more than a few other passengers for my entire one-hour stay from about 3pm-4pm.
Staff were excellent as well. Monica and Jalal took care of me and truly made me feel like a guest of honor. It felt like I was their first guest of the day and they were anxious for me to experience all the lounge amenities.
Food + Drink
One amenity was a hot dog cart…not something I usually eat, but Monica cajoled me into trying one.
My mind always wanders to how hot dogs are made, but this was fairly tasty.
The primary purpose of my visit was for lunch: since I did not have access to the AA Flagship Dining facility, I wanted a hamburger. Thankfully, the Flagship Burger is one of three items on a special a la carte menu, only available on the Flagship Bridge–
Note the menu has eight wine choices. Beer and soft drinks are also available.
I ordered a hamburger and bottle of sparkling water and began working. About 30 minutes later (which makes me worried about time if the lounge is crowded), the burger was served with potato chips.
It looked delicious, but both the bun and the sauce on the burger were too sweet for my tastes.
Then again, where else can you order a decent hamburger in a U.S. business class lounge?
I returned to the bustling Flagship Lounge only because I had left my bag there.
CONCLUSION
If you need a quiet place to work or feel like ordering food from a menu rather than going up to a buffet, check out the AA Flagship Bridge at JFK. It’s open daily from 2pm to 10pm.

Very interesting and very “American”. Like going to Cathay Pacific you get the noodle bar. It’s nice to see hotdogs and hamburgers at an American lounge. Hopefully they’ll have apple pie.
