Aeroflot Russian Airlines has announced its first six A350 routes, covering flights to Asia and the United States starting next spring.
Aeroflot ordered 14 A350-900s. Initial deliveries were due this year, but production delays have pushed back the first delivery to early 2020. Delivery will continue through 2023.
Aeroflot A350 will fly to the following destinations from Moscow Sheremetyevo (SVO):
- New York (JFK) – 29 March 2020 (SU122/123)
- Beijing (PEK) – 01 May 2020 (SU202/203)
- Seoul (ICN) – 01 June 2020 (SU252/253)
- Miami (MIA) – 02 June 2020 (SU110/111)
- New Delhi (DEL) – 01 July 2020 (SU232/233)
- Havana (HAV) – 01 September 2020 (SU150/151)
With the exception of Seoul, which constitutes a new supplemental service, the A35o will replace the A330 on the same routes. Aeroflot’s aging A330s do not have a true lie-flat bed in business class, making this a particularly welcome change for premium cabin travelers.
We still don’t know what business class will look like on the A350, other than a 1-2-1 cabin. A reverse herringbone seat is a safe guess, but I’m looking forward to seeing if Aeroflot puts any personal touches on it.
The Aeroflot A350-900 will also 24 premium economy seats (2-4-2 configuration) and 264 seats in economy class (3-3-3 configuration).
CONCLUSION
I had planned to go to Moscow last year (I even had tickets booked) and again this year. Sadly, other commitments have gotten in the way. But now I have another reason to go. I look forward to returning to Russia next year and doing so on an Aeroflot A350-900. I wish Aeroflot would put the A350 on its Los Angeles route…
You don’t need to review Aeroflot. Just helping Putin.
You should do a review if there are a lot of readers potentially flying the route because that is a service. However, for a route that is not that useful, no need to help Putin. For entertainment, Druk Air or First Air (Canada) would be just as entertaining.
Looks like SU just swapped A350s at JFK for all-777 flights, at least for May/June, and delayed A350 intro at LHR until October.
