The American Airlines Admirals Club in Pittsburgh (PIT) is a better lounge than The Club and was a nice place to wait for my flight to New York.

American Airlines Admirals Club Pittsburgh Review (PIT)

I typically fly United Airlines, but had to fly into New York (JFK) for a meeting on Long Island and that meant American Airlines or Delta Air Lines. I chose American Airlines, which gave me the chance to try the Admirals Club before the flight (via my Citi AAdvantage Executive card).

Access + Hours + Location

The lounge is located on the mezzanine level (one level up) from the passenger concourse in the Center Core. As you take the escalator up from the trains, you’ll see a sign for the lounge (and chapel) directly ahead. Take the escalators or stairs up.

The lounge is open daily from 5:00 am to 9:30 pm except on Saturday, when it closes at 6:30 pm.

Access is reserved for:

  • Admirals Club members
  • Qualifying first and business class passengers, including those traveling same-day on American or another oneworld member to:
    • Asia
    • Australia
    • Canada
    • Caribbean
    • Central America
    • Europe
    • Mexico
    • Middle East
    • New Zealand
    • South America
  • AAdvantage Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro, or Platinum members traveling internationally in any cabin of service
  • oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members from other oneworld carriers (on any oneworld itinerary in any cabin of service)
  • Admirals Club day pass holders
  • Citi / AAdvantage Executive Card authorized users
  • Active-duty military traveling in uniform with military ID

International first class and oneworld elite customers are allowed one guest (a child over two counts as a guest). Admirals Club members or members of the military may bring in their “immediate family” (spouse, domestic partner and/or children under 18) or two guests.

Seating

The lounge included a mix of plush chairs as well as tables and chairs. Windows provide great views of the apron below. Power ports (110-volt plus USB-C) are plentiful.

Business Center

There’s an all-in-one printer, scanner, and fax machine available (with wireless printing available), which I did not use but still appreciate because sometimes I do need to print something.

Restrooms

Restrooms were available (and clean) but no showers.

Food + Drink

I was there fairly early in the morning and since I was unaware of when I would eat for the rest of the day, I broke my fast early to try to some breakfast with my coffee.

I liked the selection of food, which included bagels, muffins, cut melon, apples, cereal, yogurt, hardboiled eggs, oatmeal, overnight oats, and a warm egg scramble with tomatoes, green onions, and feta cheese.

Flashback – US Airways Club (Circa 2009)

I was looking through some old pictures and found that I had visited this very club in 2009 when Pittsburgh was still a US Airways hub. Here are a few pictures:

CONCLUSION

I liked that the lounge was clean and was not crowded. It was an efficient place to work, the staff was kind, and I liked the egg scramble and pecans. Most trips to PIT will still involve The Club, but when flying American Airlines it is nice to use this lounge.

I have not been back to the PIT Admiral’s Club since it became an Admiral’s Club, but I am happy to see that the Calder prints are still there.

The PIT US Airways club always had those Calder prints and there was a rumor that they were going to be removed when the club was remodeled.

I know a number of frequent flier friends of mine were heartbroken about the idea, but I am glad to see that they are still there.

I very much liked the US Airways Club layout (a usual travel companion of mine called it “the bank” for what was like a bunch of cubicles). Lots of areas for privacy, very private work stations. I like having privacy and quiet. One of my favorite clubs is the UA Club at IAD C18 with the dungeon-like work area where basically you can sit and not have to look at anyone.

I’m a Pittsburgh resident, but don’t fly often enough to have status on any airline. My husband and I are flying British Airways business class in a few weeks for our honeymoon to the Maldives, so I am looking forward to checking out this lounge before our flight! Thanks for all of the awesome photos and information!

I enjoyed the layout of the US Airways Club, which a frequent travel companion of mine referred to as “the bank” due to its cubicle-like design.

The US Airways Club layout always stood out to me. A frequent travel companion jokingly referred to it as “the bank” due to its cubicle-like design, but I appreciated the abundance of private workstations and quiet corners. For someone who values privacy and focus, it was ideal. Similarly, the United Club at IAD C18 is a personal favorite, with its secluded, almost underground-style work area that allows travelers to work or relax without distraction. Nexotts service
