A California man is suing SkyWest and American Airlines after his pinky became stuck in a first class armrest. It took both mechanics and firefighters to dislodge his finger.
The incident took place on September 09th aboard an American Eagle flight (operated by SkyWest) from Reno to Los Angeles. Stephen Keys, a C-list actor, claims in a Los Angeles court filing that he has suffered weeks of pain and severe emotional distress as a result of the onboard issue.
Apparently, when Keys raised his armrest to find his seatbelt, his pinky became stuck in “a small hole” under the armrest. According the lawsuit:
The spring mechanism embedded inside of this hole in the armrest applied intense pressure to plaintiff’s finger, immediately inflicting injury, swelling and pain.
As Keys tried to shake loose his pinky, passengers looked on.
By this time, dozens of passengers became aware of Mr. Keys’ perilous condition, causing his dire situation to become a humiliating public spectacle. By the end of it all, he remained entrapped in this nightmarish condition, suffering for nearly an hour.
After flight attendants were unable to free him, mechanics and even the fire department were called. But even the fire department failed to free him. Finally, about an hour later, a mechanic freed him by dissembling the armrest.
While SkyWest says it has reached out to Keys concerning “bruised finger” the actor claims he is no longer able to play with his children as a result of the accident.
CONCLUSION
I’m not going to comment on the merits of this lawsuit…but let this be a warning for all that we need to watch out for that pernicious “small hole” under the first class armrest. #curiositykilledthecat
his nose pickin finger no doubt
Well, it was his finger and not his…nose!
hahahahaha couldn’t have happened to a better guy. he’ll prolly end up getting a million tax-free dollars too,,,
Why not … I see a little bit of jealousy in your comments
Boo freaking hoo !
Is he still an “actor” if he hasn’t had an acting credit in 8 years? I think thus lawsuit is his latest performance.
His lawsuit is just an attempt at grabbing money and attention. SkyWest does not have a first class. I hope they throw this out of court and charge him court fees.
