A detailed Andaz Miami Beach review of the two bedroom suite, Aguasal dining, and whether Category 6 still pays after Hyatt’s May chart change.

Location
The Andaz Miami Beach sits at 4041 Collins Ave in Mid-Beach, technically north of the South Beach crowds but close enough that you won’t feel removed from the action. Collins Avenue runs parallel to the ocean, and the hotel is directly on the beach separated by a fence with easy access. The neighborhood has a slightly quieter feel than the strips farther south, which we found to be a genuine advantage with kids in tow. Lincoln Road is a bit under two miles south, walkable if you’re motivated but realistically an e-bike ride or a short rideshare especially in Miami’s year round heat. Good restaurant and café options are available within a few blocks in either direction.
The destination fee covers two hours of complimentary e-bike rentals daily, beach and pool chairs with umbrellas, gym access, Wi-Fi, and refillable water bottles, according to Hyatt’s current property FAQ. That makes exploring the area easy without dealing with parking. On this stay (and others) we have utilized valet parking which retails for about $60/day (might be a shade under before taxes), but on an award stay for Globalists, it’s waived.
If you’re flying in, Miami International Airport (MIA) is roughly 30 to 40 minutes depending on traffic. Rideshare runs about $35 to $50 each way.

The Property
The Andaz Miami Beach by Hyatt opened in May 2025 following an extensive renovation of the former Unbound Collection, The Confidante, and the result is one of the more visually distinctive hotels in South Florida. The lobby makes an immediate impression, an organic stone ceiling with hanging tropical plants creating a canopy effect that feels both dramatic and relaxed. The bar and restaurant (Aguasal, from the José Andrés Group) are visible the moment you walk in from the first floor; the lobby and registration desk has moved to the second floor. The design leans into natural materials, warm lighting, and a bohemian aesthetic that suits the Andaz brand.
Check-In
Check-in at other Andaz properties follows the brand’s signature host model, so instead of a traditional front desk, a staff member handles everything from a tablet. This wasn’t our experience. The desk had a line of check-ins and late check-outs reviewing their bill and the two agents operating at reception felt inadequate for a hotel this size. Still, the team was polite, accommodating, and pleasant.
The Two-Bedroom Skyline Suite
The two-bedroom Skyline suite is generously sized and perfectly-configured for a family. A central living room separates the two bedrooms, giving both meaningful privacy and a place to meet together. Both of our bedrooms faced the Miami Skyline with beautiful views of the city, a sideline view from the balcony captured a glimpse of the ocean. The living room has a comfortable sofa, a second TV, and a minibar with table and chairs.
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is the showpiece of the suite. A king bed faces a windows, and at golden hour, when the light shifts across the city and the room goes amber, it’s genuinely hard to leave. The headboard is a substantial design piece, the furnishings balance comfort with the hotel’s broader aesthetic, and a chaise lounge by the window and a small table added to the room, but the bay window was a winner for my kids.
Second Bedroom
The second bedroom features a full king. While not quite as large as the master, it’s also not an afterthought with plenty of space, additional seating, and a tray ceiling. The design and finish level match the master, which matters if you’re traveling with adults or older kids who will notice the difference.
Bathroom
The master bathroom delivers with marble finishes, a glass-enclosed shower, double vanity, and an arched mirror. Counter space is generous, the shower has good pressure, and the overall finish level is consistent with the design standard set by the rest of the suite. The second bathroom is approximately the same size and both are en suite to guest rooms, though the second has an entrance that can be used as a guest bathroom without entering private spaces. Both being functional and well-appointed matters on a multi-night family stay. The prior rendition leaned into the Art Deco feel throughout the property while now the interior takes up a more modern approach.
Views
Outside of taking a photo from the balcony, we didn’t attempt to see the water during our stay. While some of the property’s 64 suites feature views of the ocean, we didn’t feel like we missed out. The city view holds its own at dusk when the Miami skyline lights up and the colors over Collins Avenue turn warm.
Pool & Spa
The Andaz Miami Beach pool is one of the more attractive in Mid-Beach. For visitors of The Confidante, the pool will be one of the most significant renovations. The new Andaz built a second floor above where a former garden was before. On that second floor it added an adults-only pool that can be drained and the floor raised to create a flat surface for events – absolutely absurd. Replacing the twin pools before is a single pool with more seating for all ages.
The casita that occupied the space before was moved in front of one of the towers and now operates as a space for private events. Ondara Spa includes a relaxation lounge with ocean views, setting the tone for a relaxing session.
Dining
Dinner
The dining program at the Andaz Miami Beach is anchored by Aguasal, the Mediterranean restaurant from celebrity chef José Andrés and his José Andrés Group. If you know the James Beard Award-winning chef behind World Central Kitchen, expectations come in high, and for the most part, Aguasal delivers. The name derives from agua salada, or saltwater, and the menu draws from Miami, Mallorca, and Mykonos.
We started with shared plates of calamari, a caesar salad, and a mac and cheese the kids immediately claimed. For mains, the tomahawk steak was the standout of the evening, and the chicken tagine with chickpeas and couscous was well-executed. Fries were also excellent if not particularly on theme. The food was genuinely good but pricey. The setting is beautiful but dark, service warm, and the experience felt worthy of the José Andrés Group name. Reservations are available on OpenTable, and it’s worth checking Resy too, since eligible American Express cardholders can use their dining credit at qualifying restaurants to offset part of the bill.
Aguasal hosts breakfast and brunch too, including for Globalists and guests on a Hyatt Privé reservation with breakfast included.
Breakfast
Breakfast at the Andaz Miami Beach was a highlight. For this stay, we were on a Globalist reservation so it was included for two adults and two children, perfect for our party. On Privé reservations, two adults are included but the reservation also comes with a $100 onsite credit. The restaurant transforms beautifully in the morning, bright and open and more relaxed than you’d expect from a South Beach hotel with seating both inside and outside underneath the newly installed second floor. We ordered off the menu: the avocado on the side of Iberco ham and scrambled eggs was satisfying, and the French toast with strawberries earned unanimous approval from the kids. Service was attentive without hovering, and the pace was right for a family easing into a beach day.
Value
The Andaz Miami Beach is a Category 6 World of Hyatt property, and the math on that changed while this review sat in my drafts folder. Hyatt replaced its three-tier award chart with a five-tier version on May 20, 2026, and Category 6 now runs from 20,000 points at the lowest tier to 40,000 at the top. The old chart topped out at 29,000. The hotel itself didn’t change categories, but the ceiling above it moved a long way.
We use a value of $0.02 per Hyatt point. At the 20,000-point floor, the break-even cash rate is $400 a night, and summer rates that dip toward $300 make cash the smarter play. At 30,000 points in the middle of the chart you need $600 a night to break even which isn’t hard to do during shoulder seasons. At the 40,000-point top tier a rate of $800 is breakeven, and winter peak rates here regularly exceed that. Book this property on points in high season and on cash the rest of the year, which is close to the opposite of the instinct most people bring to a Hyatt redemption.
Whether the suite justifies its premium over a standard room is a separate question, and for a family it probably does. Three distinct sleeping and lounging spaces, two proper king bedrooms, and a bonus room the kids never wanted to leave add up to a materially different trip than two connecting rooms. We have stayed at the Andaz Miami Beach several times and love it for its design, location, and outstanding food onsite. For what it’s worth, during several dates in September I found the retail rate to be the same as the Privé rate available here, but Privé comes with guaranteed daily breakfast for two, the aforementioned $100 onsite credit, and a welcome from the hotel management, as well as benefits if available onsite on the day of checkin for a one room category upgrade, early check-in, and late check-out.
