Review: Beijing Hilton Capital Airport

My short overnight stay at Beijing Hilton Capital Airport was comfortable and convenient. Above all else, the location of this hotel is ideal for early flights or long connections in PEK.

I arrived around 3:00 AM and still had to wait in line to check in…it’s a 24/7 operation at this hotel.

I was assigned a non-smoking room that still smelled like a nasty mix of smoke and harsh cleaning product. Thankfully, I opened the window and that seemed to help. I won’t hold this against the hotel because I could have gone downstairs and moved rooms, but chose not too. Instead, I went right to sleep.

After a long day of delays and flying, it was great to take a hot shower and I liked the smell of the Crabtree & Evelyn amenities.

I only slept for about five hours because I wanted to use the sauna, eat breakfast, then get back to the airport well ahead of my afternoon flight to Hong Kong.

The pool area is very beautiful, reminding me a bit of the pool at the Park Hyatt New York.

Meanwhile, the wellness area was a bit run down, though the sauna worked well.

Across from the pool is a fitness center that I did not use during the stay, but included more than enough machines and free weights for a full workout.

A spa is also available, though only opens in the afternoon.

An Incident At Breakfast

As a Hilton Gold member (by virtue of American Express Platinum Card), breakfast was included in my $166 rate at 360º. The large buffet included an omelet bar, fresh fruit station (you squeeze it yourself), fresh bread and pastries, yogurt, cereals, and two large islands of Chinese food.

My pictures are incomplete because a hotel security worker ran over and barked at me to stop taking pictures. In China, I comply with the rules…

Shuttles back to the airport depart every 20 minutes and I soon found myself right back where I had started about eight hours earlier.

CONCLUSION

The Crowne Plaza down the road was about the half the price and is a nice hotel, but I was very glad to stay at this most convenient airport hotel. I recommend it, especially for layovers like mine where it just doesn’t make sense to go into Beijing.

How was your stay at the Hilton Beijing Capital Hotel?

In China, be discrete when taking pictures, don’t do it openly.

Yes and no. You can be quite open when taking pictures of things tourists are expected to take pictures of (historical sites, etc). In general, exercise caution outside of those situations, especially if there are people around.
