Delta Air Lines Employee Charged With Theft After Stolen Airline Property Appears On eBay

A Delta Air Lines employee was a bit too sloppy after listing items he stole from his employer–valued at over $106,000–on eBay. When arrested, he not only inadvertently confessed to the crime, but had left mounds of incriminating evidence in his home and vehicle.

Delta Air Lines Minneapolis Employee Caught With Stolen Goods After Sloppy eBay Sales

Ahmad Ali Harfoush, 40, worked as a shop equipment technician at Delta’s Minneapolis (MSP) hub. His job gave him access to valuable Delta inventory including gifts intended for employees and equipment.

On May 13, 2024, Harfoush was arrested at work. Investigators then found $49,852.31 worth of Delta property at his home and another $5,422.78 worth of property in his vehicle. Investigators–aided by Delta–had already found he sold goods worth an estimated $106,390.70 on eBay. Packaging materials and shipping labels were also found in his car.

Harfoush then confessed to his guilt in a (recorded…of course) phone call to his fiancé while in custody:

“It started as something simple, and then I just got greedy… I need treatment for this… theft. Like, what the f*** am I thinking?”

Yeah, you might want to consider another man, dear…

Not only did Harfoush steal items, but he used his work computer to manage the eBay sales, then sent earnings into his personal bank account. The thefts began in June 2023 and it took Delta’s corporate security team nearly a year to begin investigating. Delta found the eBay site, linked the items to Harfoush, then notified the police.

He faces a maximum of 20 years in prison in addition to $100,000 fine for each of the two charges of felony theft.

Crime doesn’t pay…

Another premium employee from that premium airline that operates from their premium hub in an increasingly west Middle Eastern (think Hamas) Minneapolis.

    Sad.

And equating a whole group of people with the actions of a few is just dumb.

Also, you are just as homophobic as the people you are talking about, so try not to twist your ankle once you dismount off of that high horse of yours.

The MSP area has had an increase in housing and rental prices substantially greater than average for the US as a whole post-2021. It’s actually a great area for those of us who love biking, the natural outdoors all times of the year, love Minnesota Nice, and oppose the rise of xenophobes and other racists. You’re welcome to stay away from MSP, as the area does quite well (and better) without you and your way of hating on people for no good reason.

In your dreams he won’t be prosecuted. But in reality he will be prosecuted in the area. But don’t let your fantasies be interrupted by reality if your fantasies turn you on like Arnold Palmer turns on Trump.

Could be a political party that has Democrats in its name but aren’t the Democrats of the Democratic Party in the US. That and there are some people who register for a party in order to vote in the primaries or caucuses of a party they dislike but want to encourage the selection of a generally less electable and more embarassing candidate from the party for which they registered in order to play that kind of game.

But that is isn’t like the case with Trump. Trump was a Democrat and he even supported Bill Clinton and later donated money to a Kamala Harris campaign along with his daughter Ivanka.

I would guess the stolen gifts are like the gifts employees at Delta and other places get from employers around the area: brand watches, brand electronics such as headphones or speakers, barbecue/camping stuff, sports equipment/memorabilia for a local team, luggage or other travel or outdoor gear, umbrellas, and so on,

Not at all. I have been anticipating his winning this election for at least the last 3 years. And I am of the school of thought that people deserve the politicians they get in a democracy. I most certainly do think Trump is a low-class sleaze-ball, but Trump winning the White House for a second time would just signify that the country has lost its post-WW2 moral beacon in line with the cultural rot that arises from insecurity peddled by self-serving types in positions of power and influence.

No Maryland, we are not afraid of women in power. Just liberal ones with crazy ideas like taxing unrealized capital gains.

        • GUWonder Reply
          October 23, 2024 at 11:57 am

Under Trump Admin too, the US had a tax on unrealized capital gains — but as had been the case then, before and since, it’s been aimed at expatriating US persons.

Some OECD countries have annual taxes applicable on unrealized capital gains. It’s not been the end of the world or the end of stable national finances, but people tend to get more creative the more money that is at stake and then professional tax avoidance is big business.

What’s crazier than taxing wealth holdings’ unrealized gains? The Project 2025 stuff crooked Trump will deliver while forcing America’s women in parts of the country to deliver children for rapists who forcefully impregnate victims of violence and other abuse.

I’ve worked employee theft before. Usually starts with an honest mistake or petty theft. As time passes, the employee realizes there is no detection by the manager. Temptation grows or financial demands (late bills, credit card balances) force the employee to rationalize ( its a big company and they will never notice) and the items or money continues out the door.

Two situations give away the thief: the employee starts bragging about the theft to family & friends or
the employee is living way beyond their means (Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Brougham on a junior clerk’s salary).
Most companies have a 1-800 number for “Employee Concerns” and someone drops a dime. After a while, most perpetrators appear relieved once confronted as in, “I’ve been waiting for you.”
The employee ends up with a criminal record, the supervisor is reprimanded for lack of supervision, and the company over reacts by imposing burdensome controls.
    A no win situation.
