Delta’s stylish A8 Sky Club in New York JFK’s Terminal 4 is a beautiful space with a great terrace and sufficiently tucked away such that you can avoid the crowds of the B31 lounge.

Delta Sky Club New York A8 Review (JFK – Terminal 4)

I enjoyed watching the sunset from this lounge on a quiet Saturday afternoon. It was a nice respite from a very busy terminal.

Hours + Access + Location

The lounge is located in JFK Terminal 4, near gate A8 (way down at the end of the terminal near where many of the Delta Connection flights depart from). It is open daily from 5:00 am to 10:30 pm.

Can you say complicated?

As you enter the lounge, you’ll scan your boarding pass and then take an escalator upstairs to the lounge.

Seating

On the landing at the top of an escalator, there is seating with tarmac views.

Inside, the bar is at the center of the lounge, with seating around it.

There’s a large rectangular room on the side that has more seating as well as a desk offering flight assistance.

My favorite part of the lounge was a fully enclosed terrace overlooking the apron below.

There’s also a trio of cubicles for those wanting a private place to make telephone calls.

My wife still prints like crazy (so German…) and while she wasn’t with me on this trip, I do appreciate every lounge that has a printer/copy machine.

Food + Drink

The lounge offered a respectable spread of food including

  • braised beef with root vegetables
  • lentils + butternut squash stew
  • creamy garlic mashed potatoes
  • cauliflower and tomatoes
  • soup (red lentil, chicken noodle)
  • charcuterie board
  • salads (kale, beet, green, orzo)
  • sandwiches (turkey, cheese)
  • hummus with sliced vegetables
  • sliced fruit (honeydew and cantaloupe)

Off to the side, a few desserts (fudge bars, pumpkin cheesecake, oatmeal raisin cookies).

As I mentioned, the center of the lounge was the brasserie-style bar, with a wide selection of complimentary alcoholic beverages and then many additional “premium” drinks for purchase.

Other beverage selections included blood orange lemonade, sweetened ice tea, infused water, Coca-Cola soft drinks, coffee, tea:

I wasn’t all that hungry, but enjoyed a beet salad on the terrace:

Restrooms + Showers

Toward the back of the lounge, there are restrooms, but no showers in this lounge (the B31 SkyClub does have showers).

CONCLUSION

I quite liked this Sky Club, appreciated it wasn’t crowded, and found it a very alternative to the larger and older B31 lounge (although it is quite inconvenient if you are traveling on a widebody Delta jet). If you have the time, do check this lounge out even if departing from the B gates.

The hot entrees do appear delicious . Chow hounds are happy . Thumbs up .

The small white hexagons arranged on the floor around the circular bar appear very slippery . A slippery floor around a bar ? Thumbs down .

Is it too much to ask for the root vegetable stew to include onions, garlic, ginger, celeriac, carrots and beets?

I love Delta’s lounges around the world—they’re my go-to spots for a little peace and quiet before a flight. Whether I’m in New York, Tokyo, or Paris, the comfortable seating and gourmet snacks make the wait so much more enjoyable. Honestly, I sometimes think about how nice it would be to have a calm, classic name like Augustine… until I realize I’d probably have a child who starts quoting ancient philosophers at every family gathering! Your kid’s name is stupid and he needs a haircut.
