Disgusting: Scam Service Dog Slurps On Table In Delta One Lounge

a dog smelling a bowl of oil

I’m sorry, but this is beyond the pale. A video has emerged showing a dog eating off the table in the new Delta One Lounge in New York (JFK) and then flying in its own business class suite across the Atlantic. How long will we tolerate such insanity?

Scam Service Dogs Licks Plates Clean In JFK Delta One Lounge

As noted by Eye of the Flyer, a TikTok video shows a Maltipoo dog (essentially a designer crossbreed of a Maltese and poodle) named Oliver slurping off the table in the brand-new Delta One Lounge at JFK.

Oliver and “Mom” are flying to Portugal on Delta One. The dog takes in the lounge and then eats off “Mom’s” plate, including licking clean a salmon dish and slurping on what appears to be Champagne.

So let me ask you this: what service is this dog performing?

How do I know it is a service animal?

Because Delta does not allow pets or emotional service animals in Delta One on international flights. Only service dogs are allowed.

And because pets are required to remain in kennels, “Mom” is either brazenly breaking the rules or certifying under penalty of perjury that this was a service dog (it is referred to as a “therapy” dog on his TikTok channel).

And if this dog actually performs service, then any dog can perform “service.” Perhaps it is time for every dog owner to bring their “child” onboard and into lounges until we have a menagerie of ticks, fleas, and fur that outnumber passengers. Maybe then Delta and other carriers will push back against the ridiculous federal policy that permits this sort of tomfoolery.

Onboard, Oliver is pictured snuggled up and fast asleep in a Delta One Suite using a Delta blanket. Staged? Probably. Does it matter if it had its own seat? Not at all. Because pets are not allowed in international business class cabins, even if they buy their own seats…

Hey Delta, please ban this horrible creature (and the dog too). You wonder why I focus on stories like this? Because this sort of abuse is brazen and it is accelerating. It’s time for airlines to take their cabins back from bougie dog owners who lie and cheat so that their repulsive pets can fly in the cabin with them.

Nothing at all wrong with a dog eating off a plate. Our poodle eats off the same fork as my wife does at times. My wife even shares ice cream with our poodle

and yes, a dog should be allowed (at full fare J or F as I have always said) be allowed to buy a business or first class seat and receive the business class service

Hi Derek… just the fact that dogs lick their own as*ho*les mean that your wife is ingesting Dog Feces. But hey, if she likes the taste, who am I to dissuade her. Next lets add that dog saliva can cause allergies in HUMANS. Finally, Dog saliva can transmit intestinal parasites (through a fecal-to-oral route) . These parasites include Giardia, hookworms, and roundworms.

This is too much. Service dogs should require licensing and, if there are protests, rebaymte of the license fee.

They should allow service animals on planes where the animal is your mother or child. They would then be free. Someone may think of this someday.

Delta should be taken to task for not enforcing its rules. No animals of any kind should be in airport lounges or onboard unless they’re working dogs controlled by law enforcement. This sort of abuse is repulsive. And what about people with allergies? This clown “mom” thought the rules didn’t apply to her. Ship your animal in the hold as required.

I love your posts, but I’m not sure that you understand what a service dog is (this is based on your comment: “And if this dog actually performs service, then any dog can perform ‘service'”).

I don’t want to speak to whether *this* dog is or isn’t a service dog, but legally a dog can become a service animal if it performs a task that directly relates to a person’s disability. I had a traumatic event happen and was recently diagnosed with PTSD — to help with my symptoms, I’m currently in the process of getting my dog trained as a service animal (one of the commands the dog will learn will be “ground” — which means when I say “ground,” the dog will jump onto my lap and, essentially, ground me back to reality when I’m in state of panic).

To an outside observer, I’m sure they see me as a healthy individual who is just gaming the system. But you never know what battles someone is facing and what service the dog is actually providing.

    • Josh Reply
      July 16, 2024 at 10:59 pm

But service dogs are trained to perform a particular service. And while they are working, they don’t walk around sniffing or licking people, they don’t bark, they don’t interact with other dogs, and they certainly don’t eat off the table or sit in their own seats.

Time for an airline health department. In my view, these have become health violations. Our family gatherings probably have more dogs than relatives. We love our pets. However, we respect good hygiene, veterinary advice and the laws governing pet travel.

This loophole must close. Enough already.

Starting August 1, all foreign dogs must file paperwork with the CDC making it extremely difficult to travel to the US with your dog if you are not a resident of the US, this should reduce the amounts of foreign dogs traveling . For myself I will not book any flight that requires a connection in the US due to the complex paperwork. Matt should celebrate a possible reduction of pups on international flights starting August 1

This is almost entirely an American issue, though. Airlines outside the US don’t tolerate this nonsense and in fact only the US has such permissive laws about ‘emotional service’ animals, etc. I’ve never witnessed people outside the US pulling these stunts.

      • GUWonder Reply

There indeed seem to be far, far fewer animals in the passenger cabins on my intra-EU flights than on my intra-US flights. There must be some reasons that explain the differences that aren’t solely related to the “emotional support animal” thing.

Or they should just allow us to fly with our pets. This 0 wouldn’t be an issue if we have to get insurance to cover any issues onboard. It would make traveling so much easier for everyone if they got rid of these stupid rules and allowed us to actually get from point A to point B with a pet.

The person behind me had a French Bulldog that passed gas all through the flight tainting the airspace for me, my daughter and granddaughter.

When I flown Air France First class from Paris to Lax, lounge was with no less 4 big dogs, 2 very big size, wondering and barking at time , all appointed as service and emotional dogs, and in end got one of big size on board and although dog was well trained and slept most of time on bed close owner, the smell pervaded all cabin and really downgrading (expensive) experience. Respecting kind of dog for emotional purposes should give to owner but think same respect must been reserved to other passengers on board above all in a premium cabin, and heck!! really sorrow for dog that contained pee for more than 13/14 hours!!!! Sure nothing emotional in such forced habit.

The only animals that should be allowed in the passenger area are guide dogs for the blind. They’re well trained and are actually needed by their owners. If you are that emotionally unstable that you can’t fly without your Maltipoo, you’re likely too much of a risk to yourself and others to be on a plane. Anyway, we all know 99% of these people are just neurotic pet owners who think it’s fine to abuse a well-intentioned system because their immediate needs override the comfort of others. For the record, we flew our 4yo cat across the country in cargo when we moved. She probably hated it as you would expect, but she was fine when she arrived and went on the live another 10 years. Stop treating your pets like handbags folks. They like predictability and generally hate travel.

  24. michael Reply

how long will this go on?
until airlines come up with reasonable ways for passengers to travel with their pets
    – yes, Matt, we all know that you hate dogs – fine
but one of the reasons why people appear to flaunt the rules (not going to address this dog’s eating habits) is that there are few reasonable alternatives
    – sure, people will say “just leave Fido at home” but that is not always easy nor practical – and would probably provoke a response like “just leave your kids home”

we discuss this topic here and with Ben, FlyerTalk, etc all the time – but we never get anywhere – and my sense is that it is easier for the airline to leave with wide-open loopholes then it is to solve this problem.

Whatever happened to UA SafeSafe – died with COVID, but why did it never come back?
Didnt DL has some climate controlled cargo pods just for pets?

Maybe instead of venting with the low hanging fruit examples, lets have a reasonable discussion about the status of flying with pets, options, and expert insights?

Professionally trained service animals are and should be legally permitted to accompany their owner because they are WORKING. The plethora of pet owners slapping a vest onto their beloved untrained animal is tantamount to fraud. It ranks right up there with people who use wheelchairs to gain premium access to airline gate access but sprint off the plane!!

Sure it is a scam, but is everyone who coasts through a stop sign is issued a ticket, no…they should be though. But our society, such as it is, relies on truthtelling/rule following by applicants. Should every statement be verified by a law enforcement person, sure. But in our economy, that kind of thing just won’t work.

I think you have to leave it alone, one person, one well read author is not going to change society….
it can’t be shutdown, the legitimates would be disadvantaged.

More great airline stories, travel stories, stories like the great travel experience you gave your son. Less discussion about obvious rule breaking that we surely can’t control….even obviously can’t control.

Oliver is a ESA Piss Mutt Cuddle Pet!

ESAs are NOT a Real Service Dog/Guide Dog as stated by the Americans with Disabilities! It’s an Emotional Support Animal(ESA). They are also NOT protected or recognized by the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) or Federal Laws. This is why ESAs are called FAKE Service Dogs!

ESAs DO NOT HAVE the same special legal rights and privileges as Real Service Dog/Guide Dog which Real Service Dogs/Guide Dogs are seen federally as Disability Medical Equipment for the disabled ONLY. With that said the ESAs are legally classified as pets by federal law in all 50 states of the United States. The only place an ESA is legally allowed is in non-pet friend HUD/Section 8 Housing if a reasonable ESA Accommodation can be provided but, HUD/Section 8 Housing legally can and will refuse an ESA owner reasonable ESA accommodations if a disabled person is residing on the property with a Real Service Dog or Guide Dog that is already residing at the HUD/Section 8 housing property. This is because the ESA is legally viewed as a safety liability and is known to cause emotional distress for the Real Service Dogs or Guild Dogs and the disabled person because ESAs will cause a dangerous living environment for a disabled person and their Real Service Dog/Guide Dog. A disabled person’s safety and well-being as well as their Real Service Dog/Guide Dog medical equipment are the #1 priority over someone who is not disabled with a pet. That is because ESAs are infamous for attacking and mauling the disabled and Real Service Dogs/Guide Dogs. This is also the reason why DOT/Airlines have banned ESAs from flying in the cabin of airlines and the ESA owner is required to place their ESA in a travel transport cage to be checked baggage and pay for their ESAs to be flown in the cargo. To keep the disabled with Real Service Dogs and Guide Dogs will not be ESA attacked and mauled, and not have children ESA attacked and mauled. With that also said ESA’s are just utter bullshit that was started by Hollywood celebrities like the Kardashians that think having everyday general anxiety, social anxiety, or any type of anxiety which anxiety is not even a disability because its an everyday feeling and emotion. That everyone and their bother has normally. The ESA was never invented by any medical professionals(medical doctors) and the ESA has no medical benefit to them or a person’s health like a disabled person that has a Real Service Dog or Guide Dog that has been highly trained to perform tasks to medically help a disabled person and keep a disabled person safe and alive.

Because ESA are very dangerous FAKE service dog liabilities there have been cases of ESAs attacking, mauling and even killing Real Service Dogs and Guide Dogs. ESA owners should be required and mandated to have a 1 million dollar ESA Liability Insurance in place for each ESA they own for damages or deaths caused by their ESA, or when their ESA attacks someone, a child, a Real Service Dog/Guide Dog, and the disabled person with the Real Service Dog/Guide Dog or fatally attacks and kills a small child or Real Service Dog/Guide Dog.

There needs to be a mandated requirement of automatic animal control removal of any ESA for euthanasia for any attacks or death on a child and attacks or death that causes the death of a Real Service Dogs/Guide Dog or causes a Real Service Dogs/Guide Dog from ever working again as disability medical equipment for a disabled person. These need to be done because ESA pets are the 1# reported dog attacks, mauling, and death of children and other animals(in most of the cases the animal victims are Real Service Dogs/Guide Dogs ) and ESA is one the top fatal dog attacks, mauling and deaths of children and Real Service Dogs/Guide Dogs reported by animal control departments across the United States by The National Animal Control Associations(NACA).

ESAs are not welcome in restaurants, markets, grocery stores, Buc’ees, gas stations, airlines or theme parks like Disney or Universal Studios, or any business establishments that ONLY ALLOWS Real Service Dogs/Guide Dogs THAT ARE HIGHLY TRAINED TRAINED TO ASSISTING THE DISABLED!

As of March 2024, a NEW special law was put in place to make it illegal to claim any animal or ESA pet or to place anything that is Real Service Dog/Guide Dog gear(harnesses, patches, leashes & etc) on an ESA or any pets in the states of Tennessee, Florida, California, & Kentucky(other states are placing this as law as we speak). This state law is strictly and highly enforced, if you are caught faking a Service Dog/Guide Dog with your ESA or with just a pet by placing Real Service Dogs/Guide Dogs gear on it you to be arrested, charged with public endangerment and fraud, sentenced to 14 months or more in jail, cited $2,500, and mandated by court order to do 300 hours of unpaid community service that will benefit people with disabilities(Raise money to send a disabled child on a Disney vacation, raise money to purchase a Real Service Dog/Guide Dog for a disabled person, volunteering in a disabled adult group home, raising money for disabled adults that normally can not afford to attend the annual disabled cruise with Princess Cruise Lines, etc).

These states are fed up with these FAKE Service Dogs/Guide Dogs known as ESA pets attacking and mauling and causing havoc on the general public as well as pissing on food in food stores/medical offices and sh*ting all over businesses and medical offices.

In 2023 California made it illegal to sell ESA items within the state of California. California now mandates all disabled people to state register their Real Service Dogs/Guide Dogs and to have California State-Issued Service Papers and Service Tags.

As of early 2024 Tennessee & Kentucky(other states are in the process of passing ESA public restrictions and ESA bans and will pass the law classifying ESAs as pets to end the confusion that ESAs are NOT Service Dogs/Guide Dogs after many disabled people that rely on highly trained Real Service Dogs/Guide Dogs for their daily lives and keeping them safe where attacked and even killed by ESAs and children being attacked and mauled and there been cases of small children being attacked and KILLED by ESA pets. I was one of the disabled people with a Real Service Dog to attend my State of Kentucky as a victim of ESA attacks to help push this NEW State Law forward to be made into State Law!

I am legally disabled and I have been legally classified as disabled by my State and by the University of Louisville University School of Medicine their medical doctors have legally declared me disabled under the disability standards of Americans with Disabilities. I have a highly trained Real Service Dog(which is a Doberman and is my Medical/Mobility Service Dog) that has been legally approved as my disability medical equipment according to the Americans with Disabilities, the State of Kentucky, and by my medical doctors.

I can’t read this blog anymore.
It’s become fully vitriolic. The only thing I didn’t see (today) is someone blaming the “libtards” for this (and everything).

Vitriol toward lying dog owners…that’s all. It’s not the dog’s fault…

I wish there would be flights that would be “pet friendly” and “kid friendly” seems like there are equally two types of people in this world. Those that tolerate screaming kids on a flight and those that can tolerate a dog. People should be able to take their dogs, if well behaved on a flight (purchase an extra seat). Putting dogs under the plane in cargo is barbaric and disgusting. I’d easily pay for an extra seat if I could bring my dog to spots around the USA with me.

But it needs to be at full fare as there may be extra cleaning that needs to be done after. That could mean $2500 for domestic F round trip or $1,000 for Y

That said, at full fare, the dog should have full service
