If you’re looking for a summer getaway from the humid heat to the scorching sandbox, there’s a great deal right now on flights from Houston to Dubai in business class, with options available on Star Alliance.
Houston To Dubai In Business Class From $1674 (Star Alliance)
First noted by Eye Of The Flyer yesterday, SkyTeam (Air France, KLM, Delta) were offering cheap round-trip business class tickets from Houston (IAH) to Dubai (DXB), starting at around $1,800. Those tickets had to be purchased by February 28, 2022 and are no longer available.
However, Star Alliance matched and moments ago I just verified that there is limited space still available in July and August at bargain-basement rates.
For example, you can fly Air Canada via Toronto for $1674 round-trip in business class:
If you credit that to United Airlines, you’d receive 150% award miles (so 16,358 flight miles x 1.5 = 24,537 redeemable miles) and a total of 3,270 Premier Qualifying Points (Houston to Toronto is 1,280 miles each way, which you divide by five to get 256 PQPs each way and Toronto to Dubai is 6,879 miles, which you divided by five to get capped at 1,379 each way). In short, a $1674 fare would count toward $3,270 in spending toward elite status.
Air Canada offers a comfortable business class product and if the amazing Signature Suite has reopened by summer, that itself will be a highlight of the trip.

Cheap fares are also available on United and Lufthansa.
CONCLUSION
While Dubai is not the most fun during the summer months, hotels are generally significantly cheaper than in the winter and this deal represents a great way to pick up a lot of PQPs if you are trying to earn elite status in United MileagePlus.
Interesting. Seems to be getting a much cheaper YQ than other Star Alliance JV Atlantic routes. Maybe a new strategy to remain competitive with the gulf carriers…
It’s nice to see the 175 on IAH-YYZ. I have avoided international connections through Canada in general because of Air Canada’s CRJs from IAH to Canada.
