EasyJet Saves the Day

Matthew Klint Posted onApril 14, 2018November 14, 2023 4 Comments

I give a lot of credit to EasyJet for helping me get to Paris quickly and cheaply after being stranded by Air France.

The moment I noticed that my Air France flight was cancelled, I sprung into action. EasyJet had a flight leaving at precisely the same time, only arriving in Orly (ORY) instead of Roissy (CDG).

This was actually ideal, as ORY is closer to central Paris than CDG. The same-day ticket was only 67EUR, plus another 18EUR for one piece of baggage. I did not pay for advanced seating.

Just moments after booking my ticket on the EasyJet, I was able to check-in using EasyJet’s mobile app. The process could not have been simpler.

At Venice Airport, we found the EasyJet ticketing downstairs. Tagging my bag required only scanning my mobile boarding pass. A bag printed out and was affixed to my bag.

Boarding commenced on time and although we departed from a remote stand, boarding was quick because both front and rear air stairs were utilized.

Although we were automatically assigned a window and middle seat, the aisle seat next to us remained open and we were able to spread out. The Recarco slimline seats are the same ones several other legacy European carriers use for intra-Europe flights. I love that they are cloth-padded rather than leather.

There is no wi-fi or IFE onboard, but I was able to work efficiently during the flight on my laptop. We landed in Paris 18 minutes early.

CONCLUSION

When Air France let me down, EasyJet stepped up. In retrospect, I wish I would have booked EasyJet first…

EasyJet truly lives up to their name. They are my favorite of the European LCCs. They have a great product (all things considered), friendly staff, and the planes’ interiors don’t look like billboards. Glad you enjoyed!

Easyjet is by far the best of them. They did very well from the massive free publicity from Airline ( TV show that ran for 8 or 10 years, prominently featuring Easyjet/Luton)….but beyond that they pretty much deliver on their promises, without the petty, miserly games of some of the competition.

Honestly, they do a great job of getting you to Point A to Point B. Used them from Berlin Schoenfield to Malpensa late last year and everything from their boarding process to just how well and simple they are, it is a very good airline to use certainly for last minute. Granted I also used Ryan Air last year as well from Bergamo to Nuremberg and they were fine, just a lil tardy. But great value for the cost.
