Hitting the Million Miler Mark on United Airlines

Matthew Klint Posted onDecember 11, 2013December 9, 2016 8 Comments

My first United Airlines flight was from Los Angeles to Denver in the winter of 1995, but I did not start seriously flying United until 2005, the year I decided I did not want to sit behind the curtain any longer. Nine years later, I have logged over 998,500 lifetime United flight miles and this afternoon’s flight from Denver to New York LaGuardia will put me over the million mile mark.

In the coming days, I will recount my years of flying on United as well as look ahead to what lies ahead now that I have lifetime Premier Gold status. I am on my way to Germany, but chose the odd routing of Burbank-San Francisco-Denver-LaGuardia, then on to Frankfurt tomorrow, in order to cross the MM threshold with my favorite captain and good friend Denny Flanagan.

I’m not much of a Tweeter, but follow @liveandletsfly for updates throughout the day and let us hope that I do not get busted for taking pictures today…

Did the captain make an announcement similar to the scene in “Up In The Air”?

Like you, I’m a late-starter with UA, having been with AC until it started decimating its program a couple of years ago. Crossed half million towards UA MM last week, so looking at about five more years before my MM. But having met Captain Denny at a couple of MegaDos, I am sure he will be doing something special to commemorate your achievement…akin to replicating that Sam Shepard scene from “Up in the Air”!

@PolishKnight: Yes! A seat mate even asked if the movie was made about me. LOL.

But no fancy metal card or invitation to UGS.
