Finally, a Suite Upgrade at Hyatt Regency Mainz!

Matthew Klint Posted onJanuary 22, 2018November 14, 2023 1 Comment

For years I have been a regular guest at Hyatt Regency Mainz, located just 20-minutes from Frankfurt Airport. But in all these years and in all these stays, I’ve never received a suite upgrade…until my stay last week.

The entire hotel has only two suites…it is no wonder I have never received a suite upgrade in the past. In fact, I’ve tried on several occasions to use one of my confirmed suite upgrades to secure one…to no avail.

But this time, in the quiet of mid-January, my fortune changed. I don’t even ask anymore, but this time an associate said, “Mr. Klint, we have a suite for you this time” during check-in. I was excited.

The suite was beautiful, by the way—warm furniture and bright colors with an excellent river view. Inside, the suite contained a living room with two chairs, a coffee table, and a couch, a dining area with a table seating six, and a guest bathroom. The bedroom contained a king bed, large bathroom with oversized bathtub and two sinks, and a walk-in closet.

My stay was only supposed to be one day, but I had to extend it by one more night. Fully expecting to have to relinquish my suite, the hotel said, “No problem. You can keep it another night.”

CONCLUSION

There are far more important things in life than a suite upgrade, but when you are a regular at a hotel, scoring an elusive upgrade is quite the treat. I expect I’ll be back in a normal room next time I return to the Hyatt Regency Mainz, but I quite enjoyed this one.

Congratulations! Must be the karma gods smiling on you for all the “deep coach” flights you’ve been taking lately. 😉
