If you’re on a United flight this month, keep an eye out for complimentary mints. Yes, not to be confused with MINT (business) class on JetBlue!
The Mileage Plus Explorer Card from Chase has an increased sign-up bonus of 50,000 miles going on now (hey look: no referral link, only because I don’t have one…). In order to raise awareness of this, Chase is giving you mints this month if you fly United in all classes of services.
Chase hopes you won’t just eat the mints and throw away the box, but actually read it. The mints will be given on flights departing from United’s U.S. hub airports as well as from Honolulu and de-hubbed Cleveland. If you don’t get one, you can ask your FAs if s/he would spare an extra box from their bag…#joke.
Mints vs. MINT
The mint giveaway cannot help but get me thinking about MINT class on JetBlue. Yes, I’ve flown it only once: $599 is steep for me for a one-way domestic flight. But it remains perhaps the best domestic flight I’ve ever taken in all my years of my flying.
The close-door suites, incredible food, perfect cappuccino, caring and frinedly service, and fast complimentary internet do make me hope that JetBlue was the secret buyer of two London Heathrow slots from SAS.
Still, United has improved so much. Lucky just flew to Hong Kong on United and back on Singapore and admitted that the Singapore flight was not any better than the United flight. I would concur. If you can get on a new 777-300ER (easier said than done…), United is at the top of its game right now.
CONCLUSION
Free mints on United this month! Keep an eye out. I’d say this is a much better gimmick than FAs shilling the card over the PA system!
i’ve recently flown MINT plane but in economy (got free upgrade to extra legroom section due to standby). Whole experience was great for coach, esp for the fact I paid only $64 inc tax for LAX-JFK (yes that’s a cash ticket not non-rev / ZED), but my only gripe about the totally free internet is that EVERYONE is connected to it, making the browsing experience painfully slow.
Forget about streaming spotify or what not – even loading facebook felt like I’m back on EDGE speeds. I can only imagine the frustration for those trying to use corporate VPN to actually try to get some work done.
Delta gives out free mints to all domestic first class pax … without any solicitations for credit cards 🙂
