20% Off Park Hyatt Bangkok + 3,000 Bonus Points

Matthew Klint Posted onMay 25, 2017November 14, 2023 2 Comments

Earlier today I published a resoundingly positive review of the new Park Hyatt Bangkok. The one area of concern: price.

As if reading my mind, the following email from Hyatt arrived just after the post went live:

Dear Matthew,

Experience a tranquil oasis above the bustling city of Bangkok.

Journey to Thailand for a serene retreat at the newly opened Park Hyatt Bangkok. Enjoy elegantly-designed guestrooms, inventive food and drink, and stunning city views from the infinity pool on the garden terrace. With its ideal downtown location, you will find yourself within walking distance of the city’s myriad attractions, from museums and temples to shopping malls and nightlife venues.

Plus, exclusively for members, save 20% on standard rates and earn 3,000 Bonus Points on your next stay of two nights or more. Book by August 31 for stays through October 31, 2017. Offer Code: PROM2

Too bad this did not arrive before my trip…

Does 20% Make it Worthwhile?

Depends. For those trying to earn or re-qualify for Hyatt status, the answer is yes. But perhaps more importantly for Hyatt, for those leisure travelers with no hotel loyalty, this is still an expensive deal to stomach.

Let’s take a look at August. Upon checking Hyatt.com the 20% off rate already shows up without even inputing the promo code–

Just note that 6800 Thai Baht ($199) is pre-tax. With tax the rate climbs to $235 per night:

  • Subtotal:
    • ฿6,800.00 THB
  • Additional Fees & Taxes:
    • Service Charge
      • ฿680.00 THB
    • Value Added Tax
      • ฿523.60 THB
  • Total Per Room
    • ฿8,003.60 THB

CONCLUSION

20% off is better than nothing and I am sure many of you will use this. Nevertheless, 20% off this hotel does not suddenly make it a great value compared to other luxury properties in Bangkok.

Yeah that’s pretty pricey for BKK. So many great options in BKK that you can get for $100-$150 before tax. Definitely my favorite city in the world for hotels

Is the “opening offer” now gone? I saw it earlier today but not now. They are offering a similar “mid year sale” for June – August I see.
