Review: Oryx Lounge Doha (DOH)

Matthew Klint Posted onAugust 2, 2017November 14, 2023 2 Comments

We spent most of our long layover in Doha sleeping, but had a bit of time to visit a new lounge prior to departure.

Even though our ticket was booked directly with Qatar Airways ticket stock and our flight to Casablanca on Royal Air Maroc was a Qatar codeshare, we were not allowed access to the Al Mourjan Business Class Lounge.

Instead, in what seemed to punishment for not booking Qatar out of its home base, we were relegated to the Oryx Lounge, which is located just below The Airport Hotel.

Honestly, it was not bad. After proceeding up the elevator to the third floor, an agent wearing a garrison cap checked our boarding pass and welcomed us into the lounge.

We did not have trouble finding a seat, but it was very crowded. Perhaps part of the problem was that the lounge sells access to anyone for 200QAR (~$55).

The lounge also offered a game room, computer room, locker storage and rest area with recliner chairs.

Not pictured is the smoking room and family room, both of which were extremely crowded. There is also a single shower available for the entire lounge, which was occupied the entire time.

A couple tables in the lounge contained magazines and newspapers.

While not nearly what you’d enjoy in either of the Qatar Airways lounge, the food spread was decent. Arabic mezze, salads, two soups, sandwiches, and desserts were available. Coffee and soft drinks were as well, though I saw no alcohol.

CONCLUSION

This lounge pales in comparison to the two Qatar lounges in Doha, but it is not a bad lounge. Stop by for a snack or to relax prior to your flight. Better yet, fly Qatar out of Doha.
