Review: Araliya Lounge Colombo (CMB)

With an early arrival at the airport before our flight to Doha, we had plenty of time in the Araliya Lounge in Colombo.

I prefer the SriLankan Serindib lounge I reviewed earlier today due to faster internet speeds and less crowding (at least in the morning). In fact, the internet was practically unusable in the Araliya Lounge it was so slow.

But everything else about the lounge is fine. You’ll appreciate it if you have a long layover. Despite a lot of people, it was relatively quiet. Furthermore, the food spread was decent (I did not eat anything) and included a full breakfast buffet of items from around the world.

Coffee was terrible, though. Best to stick to tea. There is also a wide selection of self-serve alcoholic beverages as well. If you’re into locals beers, there were a couple varieties of SriLankan beers on offer.

A literature rack contains newspapers and magazines and four cubicles are available, two with desktop computers.

A restroom and shower are available, but the shower looked quite dirty. Best to avoid it.

a room with blue chairs and tables

a desks and chairs in an office

a wooden cabinet with magazines on it

a counter with a variety of glasses and bottles

a table with food on it

a display case with food on it

a group of food containers on a counter

a group of people at a buffet

a refrigerator with drinks and cans

CONCLUSION

In the spectrum of lounges available worldwide, I’d rate this one as solidly in the middle, perhaps even slightly below average. But it’s not bad, especially in Colombo.
