New “SWISS Senses” Business And First Class Seats

Matthew Klint Posted onMarch 4, 2023November 13, 2023 4 Comments

SWISS will introduce brand new “SWISS Senses” business and first class seats onboard in a move that will match Lufthansa and usher in a new era for the flag carrier of Switzerland.

SWISS Introduces New “SWISS Senses” Business + First Class Seats

I recently flew SWISS business class (trip report coming) and found the seat acceptable, but decidedly mediocre. I slept, but even with the adjustable firmness of the seat cushion these are not my favorite seats (the poor bedding does not help matters).

Earlier this week, SWISS announced it would be updating its longhaul fleet with a new generation of business and first class seats, starting in 2025.

Specifically, in 2025 SWISS will begin taking delivery of 10 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. These aircraft will feature a whole new first class seat and business class seat.

If the seats look familiar, that is because these same seats (with different accents) was also introduced this week by Lufthansa. Lufthansa calls these new cabins “Allegris” while SWISS is calling them “SWISS Senses.”

In addition to the new A350-900s, SWISS will also retrofit its Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 fleet with the new first and business class seats (SWISS plans to retire is four-engine Airbus A340 fleet in 2025).

The new SWISS first class seats look great (with floor-to-ceiling doors) and there is no doubt the product will become even more exclusive than it is already is. Like Lufthansa, the center suite will be able to accommodate two passengers simultaneously.

The new business class seats looks great as well (and will offer nifty features like heating and cooling plus wireless charging stations). For me, however, the most important thing SWISS can do to make its business class product more competitive will be to update its bedding, which is woefully uncompetitive even compared to Lufthansa). This is actually something SWISS can address immediately.

CONCLUSION

SWISS has unveiled a new generation of seats it calls “SWISS Senses” that closely matches the new Lufthansa business and first class seats. While these seats will not appear onboard before 2025, they position SWISS to offer a leading product onboard and push its business class into top-tier.

So it’s LH with a different color. I guess LX also has 5-star aspirations

This is why airlines have trouble selling first class.

J is too close to F, making the buyup very hard to justify

All a little underwhelming, to be honest, though the LX cabins do need a refresh. I was expecting something a bit more sleek from Swiss.

I’m sorry but the seats are very hard on Swiss Business – even with the “adjustable” air
