Ordinarily, this wouldn’t be big news:
Nearly 8,000 fleet service workers for Continental Airlines Inc. voted on Friday in favor of representation by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, according to the National Mediation Board.
The Houston airline’s fleet service employees include ramp, operations and cargo agents.
But it just so happens that the Teamsters also represent United’s service workers (after a similarly contentious campaign to do so in 2008). Hmm.
Is AFA representation next for CO’s FAs? We’ll see what the Delta FAs do first.
Add this to the revised United award chart announced earlier this week that aligns perfectly with, you guessed it, Continental.
I expect more alignment in the weeks to come.
