I’ve tried a lot of airplane burgers over the years, but none were as good as the exquisite beef burger I enjoyed on a recent Cathay Pacific flight in business class. Even the French Fries were delightful!
Cathay Pacific Classic Beef Burger: Best Ever
The burger is a “famous” feature of a Cathay Pacific long-haul flight in business class or first class. I’ve heard so much about it (always positive) over the years that I was looking forward to trying that almost as much as the lamb shoulder on my 14-hour flight from Hong Kong to Amsterdam.
I’m pleased to report the midnight snack lived up to its reputation and was one of the best burgers (and I’d even go so far as to say the best burger) I’ve ever had on an airplane. Even the French Fries were excellent…crispy and salty.
Classic beef burger, Monterey Jack cheese, bacon, tomato, pickled onions, and zucchini on a toasted brioche bun with fries.
This was so delicious I almost had a second one…the beef was of excellent quality and the cheese, bacon, tomato, pickled onions, and zucchini all worked together with the lightly toasted bun to create a flavor explosion.
While many airlines have tried burgers and done well, pulling off excellent French Fries is a much harder task. United Airlines tried French Fries and they were a flop. Until now, the best French Fries I’ve had onboard were on an Air Serbia flight from Istanbul to Belgrade. Even those, however, were not crispy.
(The burger on Cathay Pacific, however, was 10x better than the Air Serbia burger)
CONCLUSION
If you find yourself on a Cathay Pacific longhaul flight in business class or first class, do yourself a favor and order this burger..it was truly a delight.
Each week, my Meal of the Week feature examines an airline meal from my travels over the years. This may be a meal from earlier in the week or it may be a meal served over a decade ago.
Other than Zucchini, yes I understand it’s like a pickle, and pickled onions instead of raw, this is a normal burger normal people eat. No crazy sauces or toppings, no trying to reinvent the wheel.
Congratulations to this airline for “getting it”.
Also bonus points for Garrett’s popcorn.
No clue what the other ethnic foods are but sound like garbage to most Americans.
Have you ever had the burger on ANA as a comparison? I tbink it’s only offered in First, though.
You should write a review of your experience with Hot Dogs and Cobs of corn on planes. Obviously you eat the corn from the end.
Why bother when we have you and your closted kinky homosex fantasies to keep us all entertained?
Ok Stonewall boy.
As the great Jimmy Norton once said, “Go slip in a puddle of AIDS”.
We will be following in your footsteps as you lead the way for us, queen.
I ‘ve always kind of liked the ol’ “Fall backwards into a field of d1cks”
LOL
Even the photos look like a restaurant worthy burger! No gas station sadness for a change.
I would try this along with the Lufthansa First Class Burger you had on the A340 some time back to compare.
I despise crispy fries. Never understood why people prefer them.
If you ever fly CI J, they have a very good burger. No fries, but the burger itself was quite good, good flavor, tender, and juicy. They even managed to make the bun non-soggy.
Burger ! Did you try the Air Canada burger in the signature lounge ? It’s the best lounge burger
Would they do a burger without condiments (bun, meat, cheese only) if requested to do so?
