Thompson Adds A New Property In Rome
Hyatt has expanded its Thompson brand in recent years to a variety of new locations, many of which are domestic in the United States. Personally, I have found Thompson to be a great fit for both stays with my family on holiday and for business purposes. The hotels are full-service but designer-focused and found in excellent locations. For those familiar with the Hyatt brands, I find it between an Andaz and a Hyatt Regency.
The chain is adding a new property in the heart of Rome.
Hyatt has held a limited footprint in Europe and its former partnership with SLH helped shore up some of the missing dots on the Hyatt map. With the acquisition of the Mr. and Mrs. Smith booking platform, its partnership with Small Luxury Hotels was no longer a fit as many compete with Mr. and Mrs. Smith. As it stands today there are just four hotels currently available from Hyatt in the Eternal City, two of which are from the Two Roads acquisition including the new Thompson Rome, and a Joie De Vivre (The Tribune.) The chain will open its only Hyatt-branded property, Hyatt Regency Termini Station.
Visually Beautiful
Thompson is known for its upscale, modern approach to design in its properties. Both the communal spaces in the property and the rooms and suites reflect classic aesthetics.
Opening Date And Location
The opening date on the website is “mid-2024” but my understanding is that the opening date has been pushed to an undetermined period in the future. Whispers suggest that it could be 2025/26. I tried to contact the hotel prior to posting to affirm the date and time range but sadly, the phone number didn’t ring through on my attempts. The Instagram channel is linked to the homepage but does not yet have posts, the above images are credited to Thompson/Hyatt.
The hotel is located at Via delle Botteghe Oscure, 4, 00186 Roma RM, Italy
The property is between the Pantheon and Foro Romano each of which is a quarter mile away or less.
Conclusion
I’m looking forward to checking out Thompson Rome when it opens. I am excited that Hyatt continues to open new properties where its footprint is light and even better that it continues to expand the Thompson brand. Sadly, the hotel won’t be open for my upcoming trip to Rome to review, but when it is, I look forward to bringing it to our esteemed readers.
What do you think?
Isn’t Thompson supposed to be more like Marriott’s Edition?
