I Love the New United Propaganda Campaign!

Matthew Klint Posted onFebruary 11, 2017 5 Comments

We typically speak about propaganda in such negative terms, as if must encompass only misleading information used to promote a political cause. Sometimes propaganda is just biased or one-sided information that is not misleading, just used to highlight the good in something. United has a new series of videos out that does exactly that.

#1 – United: Connecting People, Connecting the World

#2 – United: We Fly Friendly

#3 – United: We Fly Right

#4 – United: We Fly Above and Beyond

#5 – United: We Fly Together

#6 – United: Customer Reunites with His Heroes

The first video sets the tone for the others. CEO Oscar Munoz explains why the company is using the term “New Spirit of United” and actually does a fairly good job at it. Many employees have expressed doubt over the new slogan, stating the “old” spirit of United was just fine (sort of like, “Isn’t America already great?”).

But there is no doubt this is a harmonious period on the history of United. Labor and management are united, profits are pouring in, and the customer flight experience is the best it has been in years. All that is left is restoring MileagePlus to its old glory…yeah right.

CONCLUSION

What are your thoughts on the new video series? Frankly, this is propaganda I not only can appreciate, I can like.

“Uniting the world” should be their marketing tagline.

running cute commercials is useless when you run a crappy airline with angry union employees and dirty, late airplanes . you might fool someone once but thats it

I liked it as well, at least the first. A decade ago or more, I used to like United the best of “the Legacies” and have high hopes the come back strong.
