With travel restrictions extended in both Hawaii and Canada, United Airlines has adjusted its September 2020 schedule to more accurately reflect demand.

United Airlines Reduces Hawaii Flights For September 2020

With tourists effectively banned from Hawaii for another month due to a mandatory 14-day quarantine (now in place until at least October 1, 2020), United Airlines will reduce planned service. Flights between Honolulu (HNL) and Chicago (ORD) will be cut from daily to three-times weekly. Los Angeles (LAX) to Honolulu will be cut in half from twice to once daily. Furthermore, flights between San Francisco (SFO) and both Kona (KOA) and Maui (OGG) will be reduced from two to one flights per day. The Denver (DEN) – Honolulu service will operate as planned.

Here is the complete September 2020 United Airlines schedule between the U.S. mainland and Hawaii:

  • SFO ⇄ HNL: 2x daily
  • LAX ⇄ HNL: 1x daily
  • DEN ⇄ HNL: 1x daily
  • ORD ⇄ HNL: 3x/week (Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
  • SFO ⇄ OGG: 1x daily
  • SFO ⇄ KOA: 1x daily

United Airlines Reduces Canada Flights For September 2020

With U.S. citizens still banned from visiting Canada, flights between the U.S. and Canada will be reduced by 35%.  That entails reductions in service to Calgary (YYC), Montreal (YUL), Toronto (YYZ), and Vancouver (YVR). This includes service from Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, and Washington (IAD).

United will operate the following schedule between the U.S. and Canada, effective September 2, 2020:

  • IAD ⇄ YYZ: 1x daily
  • ORD ⇄ YYZ: 2x daily
  • ORD ⇄ YUL: 5x/week
  • SFO ⇄ YVR: 2x daily
  • DEN ⇄ YYC: 1x daily

CONCLUSION

United warns further schedule reductions may be necessary due to changing travel restrictions. Frankly, it already seems like United is operating far too many flights to Hawaii considering the tourist ban has been extended.

Are you impacted by United’s September 2020 schedule reduction?

Thanks for the article, Matthew. Do you have a link to their entire schedule? I was curious about other routes.

Alaska just did similar significant reductions to Hawaii yesterday. Appears to be only SEA to Hawaii left

Canada did not banned American from entering. Instead, all foreigners who like to enter Canada must prove that the trip is non-discretionary in nature. Some exception applied, and you may read the detail at the link below
