BermudAir, the startup airline from the island of Bermuda has added three new destinations for spring and they are all in the United States.

BermudaAir to Add Service To New US Gateways

BermudaAir, the boutique airline catering to travelers to Bermuda, has announced an exciting expansion. Beginning in April 2025, BermudaAir will introduce new flights to Charleston (CHS), Hartford (BDL), and Raleigh/Durham (RDU). This expansion increases the airlines’ destinations from seven to ten gateways, all in the United States or Canada.

The expansion is a strategic move to capitalize on Bermuda’s growing popularity as a year-round destination. By adding flights from these key markets, BermudaAir is not only catering to leisure travelers but also tapping into the business travel segment. Bermuda’s appeal as a financial hub and conference destination adds another layer of opportunity for the airline.

The new flights will not operate daily, however, with Raleigh/Durham getting Monday/Friday service, Hartford gets Thursday/Sunday frequencies, and Charleston is Saturday-only service.

Why Bermuda?

Bermuda is a jewel of the Atlantic, offering travelers a perfect blend of luxury, relaxation, and adventure. Its pink-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and colonial charm make it an irresistible destination. With a flight time of just a few hours from the U.S. East Coast, Bermuda is an easy escape for long weekends or extended stays.

We recently flew to the island to board a ship and were disappointed we didn’t stay a few days. The weather was perfect, azure blue water seemed to be visible from every conceivable angle, and the island seemed to have a low-key upscale approach.

BermudaAir’s expansion aligns perfectly with Bermuda Tourism Authority’s efforts to attract more visitors by showcasing the island’s unique appeal.

What This Means for Travelers

For passengers, BermudaAir’s expansion translates to more flexibility and fewer hassles. More routes and flight options mean less time spent on connections and more time enjoying Bermuda’s stunning scenery. Plus, with the airline’s focus on a premium experience, travelers can start their getaway the moment they step on board.

Business travelers, in particular, will appreciate the convenience of direct flights, making Bermuda a more accessible destination for meetings and events. And for leisure travelers, the airline’s boutique model ensures that getting there is just as enjoyable as being there.

These expansions will also help to keep prices low for passengers that would otherwise fly a connection via network carriers like United, Delta, or American.

A Vision for the Future

BermudaAir’s growth signals a broader trend in the aviation industry: the rise of boutique carriers that prioritize quality over quantity. As travelers become more discerning, airlines like BermudaAir are proving that there’s a market for premium service on shorter routes. Its unique geolocation a few hours east of North America’s east coast lends itself premium Canadian markets, and throughout the United States.

Expansion opportunities could include Montreal, and Washington DC without running into competition from network carriers. The airline utilizes Embraer aircraft only but with Airbus A320s or Boeing 737s the carrier could reach into second-tier markets like Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Milwaukee, and look north and east to Europe with Iceland, France, and Portugal within range still avoiding competitive flights with British Airways to London.

Conclusion

I’m excited to see a new carrier grow and expand. I’m also optimistic for the carrier to prove that there’s a market beyond the major hubs between North America and the island. More options to return to the island will make me and my family happy and increases the convenience and cost-effectiveness of doing so.
