The greatest debate is not Democrats versus Republicans, right versus left or how to handle immigration, climate change, or inequality. Nope, it is Biscoff cookies versus stroopwafels. Which one is the better airline snack?
I’m joking of course, but I am now faced with a dilemma every time I step on a United flight and my upgrade doesn’t clear. A stroopwafel or a Biscoff cookie?
I love them both so much. It was United who actually first introduced me to stroopwafels, but I now eat them all the time and even stock up on them when I am in Holland.
But all my life I’ve loved the cinnamon sugar biscuits known as Biscoffs in the USA or known generically as speculoos.
Flight attendants are very strict about only being allowed to choose one (unless you are really demanding), so recently I’ve been left with a hard choice every time I fly.
As much as I love stroopwafels, especially when warmed up over a cup of coffee, I have to admit that I prefer Biscoffs.
Maybe that’s why these Belgian cookies are available on American, Delta, and United now. That mix of cinnamon, butter, and sugar creates one of my favorites tastes, no matter the time of day.
CONCLUSION
What do you prefer, Biscoffs or stroopwafels? Why? It’s the end of the work week and I think we all need a lighter topic to digest on this beautiful afternoon.

I will say there is something special about Biscoff and flying. I bought one of those huge packages at the grocery store to have at home and it just wasn’t the same. Just two cookies at a time, in the air, is where they shine.
Are you kidding? Stroopwafels 100% of the time!
How is this even a point of debate for anyone?
Agreed! 100% Stroopwaffels, All day.
Stroopwaffles. I once (at the end of a flight) scored around 50 of these, which was one of my yearly highlights flying United.
I get the stroopwaffle since its harder to find them in stores individually wrapped. You can always go to the galley after service is done and grab another one from the snack try or ask a FA, they usually let you have more than 1 once they’re done with service.
Biscoff without a doubt. The stroopwaffles are indeed good and a wonderful touch, but they do not compare with what you can find in Europe, which to me appear fresher.
Am I the only one who has never had a Stroopwaffle? I’ve probably been served Biscoff’s 100 times in my life on airlines, but not once do I remember getting a Stroopwaffle. Maybe because i’m predominantly AA, occasionally DL but rarely UA?
I was team Biscoff until recently. I had a Stroopwaffle on a United flight and was in heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They now sell Biscoff at my local Costco so moving forward I will request Stroopwaffle since I can’t locally purchase those as of yet.
I tried heating this on the cup of coffee and I spilled the coffee on my suit.
Hands down, Stroopwaffle, warmed to perfection over a cup of piping hot coffee. Yum!
Stroopwafel all the way! I take them home and eat them for breakfast. Had a biscoff for the first time last month and found it very hard and plain. And I’ve never been prevented from getting both (or even 2 of the same). I hope you were being facetious!
I am always wondering that why Biscoff is marketing their product as Europe’s favourite cookie. I am European, and I never ever saw any Biscoff biscuits in this continent. I have only met these on US domestic flights. However Stroopwafel is indeed European. Also I prefer that one.
okay, never mind, I’ve just looked after it, its branded as Lotus here, and now its familiar.
I visited Holland a few years ago, and got a hot, fresh stroopwafel from a street vendor. If you like the packaged version, you will not believe how good the fresh ones are.
Biscoffs are yummy too.
You’re supposed to choose only one so the flight attendants don’t run out of snacks before they get to the last row. But they almost always have some leftover. Just go to the back galley after the main beverage service is finished and they’ll give you a handful of whatever is left. I prefer biscoffs.
I have never EVER had a problem getting both.
