Bolstering its already impressive Latin America network, Delta Air Lines is adding service to Cancún from four U.S. cities. Starting in February, you will be able to fly non-stop to CUN on Delta from Columbus, San Antonio, Austin, and Tampa. The once weekly (Saturday) service will be seasonal and operated by MD-88s.
Austin
DL 309: Austin – Cancún DEP: 7:45 ARR: 10:00
DL 558: Cancún – Austin DEP: 10:50 ARR: 13:20
San Antonio
DL 521: San Antonio – Cancún DEP: 7:45 ARR: 10:05
DL 570: Cancún – San Antonio DEP: 10:55 ARR: 13:30
Columbus
No non-stop flights loaded into schedule yet
Tampa
DL 401: Tampa – Cancún DEP: 7:45 ARR: 8:35
DL 570: Cancún – Tampa DEP: 9:25 ARR: 12:10
A quick look at the fares reveals that n/s flights are more expensive (over $200 more ex-AUS) than flying through Delta’s Atlanta hub.
As an aside, Delta is also launching service to Monrovia, Libera via Accra, Ghana. Hopefully the competition on the Accra route with United will push fares down.
